Volleyball Hits Incredible Milestone and Field Hockey Keeps on Rolling!

Varsity Girls Volleyball
On Wednesday, Varsity Girls Volleyball traveled to NEPSAC Class A powerhouse Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, MA. After shaking off a slow start in the first set, and in typical Vikings style, the team rallied to win the next three sets to take the match 3-1! With the win, King remains undefeated on the season and atop the FAA and NEPSAC standings. The last loss the team experienced was early in the fall of 2023, before putting together one of the most impressive runs in school history, culminating with the win on Wednesday to extend the streak to 50 straight matches!

Three matches remain in the regular season this fall, with the team hosting FAA foe Hopkins School tomorrow, October 25, before wrapping things up with two more Class A battles, first at home Wednesday, 10/29, against Loomis Chaffee School, and then on the road in Boston on Saturday, November 1, against Buckingham Browne & Nichols. The FAA playoffs will begin on November 3, with the NEPSAC postseason tournament starting on Wednesday, November 12.

November 12 will also mark a special day for the King Volleyball program, as senior captain Emily McKee will be recognized in a ceremony in the upper school gym at 12:00 p.m. for her commitment to play volleyball at William & Mary University! All are welcome and encouraged to join us at the event to celebrate Emily for all her accomplishments and the amazing opportunity to play at the NCAA Division 1 level! Go Vikings!

Varsity Field Hockey
Varsity Field Hockey has also been on a tear recently, outscoring their opponents 28-3 in the last five games! Dominating on both ends of the field, strong defense and goalie play has only given up the three in goals over that stretch, while the offense has also been clicking on all cylinders, helping lead to the following wins: Canterbury 7-1, Hopkins 6-1, Millbrook 4-1, Hamden Hall 4-0, St. Luke’s 7-0.

With these victories, the Vikings remain a top-four seed for the FAA playoffs and sit in second place right now in the NEPSAC Class C standings! The Vikings have a big test today as they host Rye Country Day School at 4:00 p.m.
