King School Hosts “Roadmap to Senior Year” for Families of the Class of 2026

King School welcomed families of seniors to “Roadmap to Senior Year,” a morning designed to ease stress, answer questions, and celebrate the final chapter of the upper school experience.

Head of School Carol Maoz acknowledged the mix of emotions that come with senior year and reminded families of the importance of balance. “This is a year to be present, to support your children through the stress of deadlines, but also to celebrate the moments of joy that mark the end of their King journey,” she said.

Jennifer and Bill Kircher P’26 are embracing this chapter with their daughter, Evelyn. They attended the brunch after hosting a senior parent social at home the previous evening.

"We’re glad that the focus is not just about college applications, but about her making memories with her senior class,” said Jennifer. “When this group of 81 young adults gathers for reunions in the future, the conversations will not be about the supplemental essays."

Throughout the event, families heard practical advice and insights to support their children.

Head of Upper School Marnie Sadlowsky spoke to families about what they can expect for the year, including important milestones in the college process. Director of College Counseling Jessica Landis also shed some light on the last year of this four-year journey.

Jamie Schultz P’26,’29 spoke to fellow parents about the Senior Parent Gift, an annual fundraising tradition that honors the legacy of the graduating class. Jaimie and her husband, David, are co-chairing this fundraising initiative. This year, the gift will be dedicated to professional growth and development of faculty and staff.

In her remarks, Director of Development Colleen Dealy added that the Class of 2026 will soon join a tight-knit alumni community. She encouraged students and their families to remain connected with the school through the many alumni offerings throughout the year.

Echoing this message through a personal perspective, Jayne Tully ’17, King’s Alumni Relations Associate and an alumna herself, shared: “As your children prepare to take that next big step beyond these walls, I want you to know that their journey with King does not end at graduation. In fact, it’s just beginning in a whole new way.”

In addition to parent resources and strategies, the event highlighted the community’s role in offering seniors encouragement and support.

The gathering concluded on a celebratory note, as families looked ahead to the traditions and milestones that will culminate with graduation. Roadmap to Senior Year aims to leave families with a shared sense of confidence, connection, and excitement for the Class of 2026’s final year together at King.
