GiveKing Tuesday: A Powerful Day of Giving Fueled by Viking Pride

Vikings came out in full force this GiveKing Tuesday, helping King School soar past $1 million in generosity and reach an exciting milestone for the school.

“I’m filled with immense gratitude for each of you — our trustees, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends — who showed up with such generosity and spirit,” said Head of School Carol Maoz.

Parents led the charge from the very start of the day, filling the drop-off line with signs, bells, pom-poms, and warm smiles despite the wintry weather. Head of School Carol Maoz, Board Chair Mi-Sun Freeman P’22, ’29, and Parents Association President Hillary Rosenthal P’32 joined them, creating an atmosphere of joy that set the tone for a remarkable day of giving.

“My fellow parents showed up in true Viking fashion: generous, supportive, and filled with pride! I am so grateful for a community that is fully committed to the school’s mission!” said Rosenthal.

Families continued that momentum throughout the day. New families made their first gifts to King, returning families increased their previous contributions, and some made multi-year commitments to the Annual Fund, a clear reflection of confidence in the school’s direction. As a result, King now stands at 62% of its Annual Fund goal, up from 46% at this time last year.

Participation across the school surged as well. PreK3 and Grade 4 both achieved 100% participation for the year, with Grades K, 1, and 3 close behind. The Lower School led overall participation, followed by the Middle School, where Grade 7 set the pace. In the Upper School, Grade 11 led in total dollars raised.

Faculty and staff participation surpassed last year’s full-year total and met the challenge issued by Carol and Michael Maoz, who pledged a gift in honor of faculty and staff if participation increased. Maoz’s colleagues wholeheartedly answered the call.

Throughout the day, the Trustees’ match played a meaningful role. What began as a $100,000 challenge grew to $150,000 on GiveKing Tuesday, and the community met the full amount.

Reunion-year alumni were energized as well, with giving reaching $45,081. Through the Becker Challenge’s 2:1 match multiplier, this brings the total impact to $135,243. Leading reunion year participation came from the Classes of 1966, 1970, and 1990, and several alumni made multi-year commitments, including an additional $20,000 gift. Thank you to Jeff Becker K’83 for this incredible reunion year giving match!

Alumni across the decades showed up with pride, including strong participation from the Classes of 1982, 1983, 1992, and 2003. Many young alumni also made their first Annual Fund contributions, with the Classes of 2017, 2022, and 2025 leading the way.

“GiveKing Tuesday highlighted the extraordinary spirit of the King community,” said Colleen Dealy, Director of Development. “The generosity and enthusiasm from parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends fueled an incredible day of support. The results reflect the momentum, pride, and excitement that will continue to benefit King.”

Gifts to the Annual Fund are vital to sustaining King’s people, programs, and spaces, ensuring every student benefits from the full breadth of opportunities the school provides.

While GiveKing Tuesday has concluded, gifts are still coming in. Let's keep King’s momentum strong to reach our total goal of $1,750,000 for the year.
