Basketball Update: Boys & Girls Rolling
King Basketball is building momentum on both sides of the program, with the Vikings delivering strong performances fueled by balance, poise, and teamwork. From clutch league wins to a growing winning streak, both the boys and girls teams are finding their rhythm as the season heats up.
Varsity Boys Basketball: Back-to-Back Wins
Boys Basketball put together an impressive stretch with two big FAA wins, showcasing poise, balance, and strong team play.
Against Greenwich Country Day School last Friday night, the Vikings came away with a thrilling 69-68 win to stay in the mix near the top of the FAA league standings. Coach Mike’s Player of the Game honors went to AJ Trimboli ’26. AJ delivered a complete performance, finishing with 21 points, shooting 5-of-9 from three and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, including knocking down two free throws in the final seconds to secure the victory. He also added 5 assists, 3 deflections, 1 steal, and took 2 charges, impacting the game on both ends of the floor.
Additional scoring came from Ryan Trimboli ’28 (14 points), Julian Dent ’26 (12 points), and Jonovan Bracey ’26 (11 points).
The Vikings carried that momentum into another exciting victory over Greens Farms Academy on Wednesday, earning a 75-60 win. Julian dominated inside with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while AJ led the scoring with 28 points and six three-pointers. Jonovan continued to impact the game across the stat sheet, highlighting a strong all-around team effort.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Five-Game Win Streak
Girls Basketball continues to surge, now riding a five-game winning streak, with the Vikings putting together strong performances across league and non-league play. During this stretch, King earned wins over Frederick Gunn, secured a huge victory against FAA league member Greenwich Academy, traveled to Forman, and most recently delivered a commanding 67-36 win over Watkinson in a rematch of last year’s HVAL Championship.
“Our girls basketball team is riding a five-game win streak, playing great team basketball and staying true to their identity of toughness, grit and determination,” said Head Coach Stefan Driehuizen, praising the group’s collective effort. “Their defense, discipline, and unselfish play have fueled their success, with everyone buying in and playing for one another.”
Against Watkinson, King showcased its most balanced scoring attack of the season, playing with pace, unselfish ball movement, and relentless defensive pressure. The Vikings controlled the game from the opening tip, steadily pulling away as contributions came from throughout the lineup.
Carolyn Joo ’28 led the way with 23 points, continuing her march toward 1,000 career points. Kate Moskowitz ’29 added 12 points, while CT Thomson ’28 finished with 10 and Sophia Lasky ’26 chipped in 9, highlighting the depth and balance of the Vikings’ offense.
It was a complete team performance as King extended its winning streak to five.
