Vikings Celebrate Record-Breaking Athletic Year

The 2024-25 school year was a historic one for the Vikings, with a school-record eight team championship banners set to be hung in the gym — the most in King School history.

In addition to team success, the Vikings celebrated multiple individual achievements, including the school’s first FAA Girls Golf Individual Champion, four individual titles at the FAA Track and Field Championships, and two individual titles at the New England Division III Championships.

Since the 1990s, King has averaged six to seven team championships every two years. Over the past two academic years (2023-24 and 2024-25), the school has won 13 team titles, alongside seven individual FAA Track and Field championships, four individual New England Track and Field championships, and the FAA Girls Golf title this spring.

A performance breakdown of all athletic programs since 2018 shows major strides. From fall 2018 through spring 2022 (excluding 2020 when the pandemic interfered with competition), Viking teams had an overall record of 275-275, a 50% winning percentage. In the three years since — fall 2022 through spring 2025 — that number jumped to 64%, with a combined record of 358-211. That 14% increase includes 83 more wins and 64 fewer losses.

Several teams posted especially impressive improvements in winning percentage from this time:

  • Field Hockey: up 51%
  • Girls Lacrosse: up 45%
  • Boys Basketball: up 33%
  • Girls Basketball: up 30%
  • Boys Lacrosse: up 22%

These gains reflect stronger records and a growing culture of excellence across King Athletics. With that in mind, here’s a look at this year’s championship winners. Congratulations to all!
