Register your child today for Summer Institute (SI), where students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 are taught in small classes by King's outstanding teachers and coaches. Middle and high school classes allow students to pursue their academic passions and accelerate their progress in the next academic year.
Fun Camp allows younger students to grow and learn while keeping in mind each age group’s physical, emotional, and intellectual needs.
Sports clinics offer students who want to engage their bodies along with their minds and push themselves to be their best in a variety of sports. Students do not have to attend King School to participate in these programs.
With dozens of sessions, Summer Institute offers something to suit the individual strengths and talents of each child!

Summer Institute's Middle and Upper School program offers students (Grades 6-12) the opportunity to explore new subjects or to advance in core academic or artistic subjects. Students who are serious about their academic and personal growth will find our intensive college preparatory courses the perfect way to excel this summer. Many courses are offered for academic credit. Register your child for Summer Institute (SI) at King School’s 34-acre campus in northern Stamford. Summer Institute's Middle and Upper School Program offers students (Grades 6-12) the opportunity to explore new subjects or to advance in core academic or artistic subjects. | Fun Camp |

Your children will gain confidence and be challenged. Our professional teachers and counselors, accompanied by experts, will nurture your children and broaden their experiences in STEM. Fun camp inspires curiosity in students Kindergarten-Grade 5 through activities, movement, and games. Join us for all six weeks or a combination of weeks. The camp typically starts the third week in June. Join students from 40 different Connecticut and New York schools. Your children, Kindergarten-Grade 6, will gain confidence and be challenged. Our professional faculty and counselors, accompanied by experts will nurture your children and broaden their experiences in STEAM. Fun camp inspires curiosity through activities, movement, and games. Each weekly session includes outdoor sports and games, Lego engineering, animation, arts and crafts, coding, and robotics. Some trips include museums, aquariums, nature centers, trampoline parks, and ninja warrior courses, to name a few. We have a ton of fun on campus with water slides, bouncy houses, and ice cream trucks. Plus, lunch is included with every registration. Join us for all six weeks or pick and choose weeks based on your schedule. Camp runs from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily. Students do not have to attend King School to participate in these programs. | Sports Clinics |
| In addition to providing academic and artistic opportunities for growth, Summer Institute offers athletic clinics for students who want to engage their bodies and minds and push themselves to be their best in a variety of sports.
Players will be able to gain individual instruction from the area's top coaching staff. The coaches are interested in developing skills and building better teammates through drills and scrimmages. The Summer Institute at King is open to all students from schools in the CT/NY area. |

| Can students who do not attend King School participate in Summer Institute? |

| YES! Students from over 40 different schools attend Summer Institute. These schools consist of Fairfield and Westchester County public and independent schools and boarding schools across the Northeast. And, like King in general, we experience a strong diversity of students from many different ages and backgrounds. Our Summer Institute students are motivated and have found their experience here academically and personally rewarding, regardless of who they are or where they are from. |
| How do you handle cancellations, withdrawals, and course changes? |
|
All fees must accompany the student’s registration form in order for the student to participate. The Summer Institute reserves the right to add or cancel courses at any time based on enrollment or staffing. If a class is canceled for any reason, we will immediately notify the student’s family, and a refund will be issued. If you would like to cancel participation in Summer Institute, you may request a full refund until Friday, May 17. |
| Are any of the academic courses offered for credit? |
| Yes, some may be taken for credit with the approval of the student’s home school. Any of the six-week courses qualify, as well as some three-week courses. Since a great deal of material must be covered in these six weeks, these classes move at a quick pace, and up to two hours of homework is assigned per night. Only students who are prepared to move at this pace and complete significant nightly homework should consider these courses. In addition, we are very pleased that these classes have been officially recognized as credible "earn credit" courses by both independent and public schools. |
| Are students expected to complete homework? |
|
Other than classes taken for credit (see above), upper school academic classes assign 30 to 60 minutes of homework per night. Some of the middle school classes may have up to about 20 to 30 minutes of homework per night. |
| What is the average class size? |
|
Most classes enroll between six and eight students, but our most popular classes may have as many as twelve to fourteen students enrolled. |
| Can I sign my child up for more than one class? |
| Absolutely. We made the schedule such that you can pick a combination of the courses and make a personalized grouping of courses. Many students sign up for combinations of three-week courses, after their morning six-week courses, or students take a varied combination of three-week courses. Make your schedule as long or as short as your summer time permits. |
| When should a student enroll? |
| Ideally, a student should enroll as early as possible in order to secure a spot in a given class. However, in the event that the class is not filled, a student may enroll up to the first day of class. |

| Is it OK if my child misses a day or two of class during the summer? |
| In most cases, yes. Missing classes becomes a bigger issue if the course is a “for credit” course. In this event, roughly a week’s worth of material is covered each day, which means that missing a day will require significant make-up work with the teacher. However, this can be worked out, and students who miss a day or two must take some initiative to catch up without impacting their experience and course completion. |
| Are students able to receive extra help from their Summer Institute teachers? |
| Absolutely! One of the things we pride ourselves on is the individual attention that each student receives from his/her teachers. It is not at all uncommon for a teacher to telephone a student’s parents to discuss progress, to stay late or come in early to meet privately with a student, or to assess a student in a way that brings out their inherent abilities. The Summer Institute teachers are also happy, with a parent’s permission, to contact a student’s home school teacher in a given subject to get background information, discuss progress, and report results. |
| Is financial assistance available for the Summer Institute? |
