The Board of Trustees and the Leadership Team are strong partners in ensuring that King School maintains our academic, financial, and cultural strengths during this challenging and unprecedented time. We continue to make decisions based on our expertise as educators, and we are committed to relying on the strongest available scientific evidence and other data when making decisions about the health and safety of the school community. Most of all, we remain committed to making decisions that clearly align with King's mission, values, virtues, and strategic plan.
As we begin the new school year, we have created a plan that maintains our strong academic program, ensures our financial stability and sustainability, and preserves our community and culture. As students and teachers return safely to campus, we are ready to pivot if necessary as situations demand.
Our goals are to define our changing landscape, to provide frameworks and tools to successfully navigate change, and to provide robust support for our staffulty, students, and families. Among other factors, we will be diligently assessing:
- Legal requirements from state and local governments;
- Health and safety recommendations from health organizations such as the CDC and NIH, and from federal, state, and local governments; and
- Best practices for online learning, campus safety protocols, etc. learned from our own KingIsHome program as well as from other schools, organizations such as the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), the National Association for Independent Schools (NAIS) and many others. We will also reflect deeply on the feedback we’ve received from our community.
