Assistant Coaching Positons

King School (King) is an independent, college preparatory day school serving students from Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12.  We are a diverse, vibrant learning community dedicated to educational excellence and the fullest academic and personal achievement of our students.

Assistant Varsity Cross Country Coach

King School is looking for qualified applicants with High School or College Cross Country/distance running coaching and/or competition experience. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. The assistant coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Upper School Boys and Girls Varsity teams and helping to develop practice plans and meet line-ups. The assistant coach will also be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletic Department, while following the rules set forth by the Fairchester Athletic Association and the New England Prep School Athletic Council. Successful candidates will also have the proven ability to constructively collaborate with both adults and children in a positive spirit.

JV Girls Soccer Coach

King School is looking for qualified applicants with High School or College Soccer coaching and/or competitive playing experience. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. The JV Coach will oversee operations of the Junior Varsity Team, including practice and match planning and lineups, as well as student-athlete and parent communications, and support the Head Varsity Coach in all aspects of the program. The JV Coach will also be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletic Department, while following the rules set forth by the Fairchester Athletic Association and the New England Prep School Athletic Council. Successful candidates will also have the proven ability to constructively collaborate with both adults and children in a positive spirit.

Girls Volleyball Coaching Positions (Varsity Assistant, JV Coach, Middle School Coach)

King School is looking for qualified Girls Volleyball Coaching applicants for open positions with the Varsity, JV, and Middle School teams. High School or College Volleyball coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. King School has one of the top prep Girls Volleyball programs in the Northeast, as the Varsity team has won five straight league titles and five out of six New England Class C championships. Coaching positions will support the Head Varsity Coach in all aspects of the program, including developing the model of practices and program growth from grades 6-12. All coaches will also be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletic Department, while following the rules set forth by the Fairchester Athletic Association and the New England Prep School Athletic Council. Successful candidates will also have the proven ability to constructively collaborate with both adults and children in a positive spirit.

Assistant Crew Coaches (2)

King School is looking for qualified applicants with college or high school rowing/coaching experience. Highly motivated candidates, possessing strong leadership and communication skills, are encouraged to apply. Assistant coaches will support the Girls and Boys Program Head Coaches in all aspects of the King Crew program, including setting lineups, running practices and workouts on and off the water, and developing competitive athletes. The assistant coaches will also be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletic Department, while following the rules set forth by the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Successful candidates will also have the proven ability to constructively collaborate with both adults and children in a positive spirit. Practices are held on the Mianus River in Greenwich, CT out of the RowAmerica boathouse and run from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Races and regattas take place during the week and on weekends, with the potential for some overnight trips. King Crew is a three-season sport and further coaching opportunities may exist for our Upper School program in the spring and winter and our Middle School program in the fall.

Position Requirements and Recommendations:

  • CT Boating license and ability to drive and operate motorized coaching launch

  • Ability to safely navigate a crowded waterway with boat traffic from other rowing clubs, as well as private boats and commercial vessels

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Minimum US Rowing Level 1 coaching certification

  • Ability and knowledge to assist with equipment upkeep

  • Assist in setting and adjusting boat rigging/oar inboard/outboard

  • Run seat races and provide input on boating lineups

  • Be comfortable working with athletes new to the sport, helping develop those athletes to be competitive novice level rowers

 

Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

King School is looking for qualified applicants with High School or College Basketball coaching and/or competitive playing experience. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. King School is a member of the highly competitive Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA). The assistant coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including practice and game planning, and assisting with day-to-day operations. The assistant coach will also be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletic Department, while following the rules set forth by the FAA and New England Prep School Athletic Council. Successful candidates will also have the proven ability to constructively collaborate with both adults and children in a positive spirit.
