Teaching at King
King seeks to employ educators who love working with children, have passion for and expertise in their subject matter, have a growth mindset, embrace the multidimensional roles we each play, and prioritize the learning process for both students and teachers. View a list of our current openings.
We expect our teachers consistently to incorporate student-centered best practices. We constantly seek ways to deepen our understanding of the dynamic relationship between the learning and teaching processes. We support one another in a variety of ways to achieve this goal including:
- Extensive mentoring program for first–year teachers
- Examination and application of detailed learning profiles for each student to inform lesson plan development
- Collaborative weekly meetings to discuss best practices
- On-going professional growth and development opportunities both on and off campus
Over 80% of our Faculty holds advanced degrees and Faculty and students benefit from an average class size of 12 and a teacher/student ratio of 1:6.
Educational and Curricular Philosophy
We take pride in believing we are leaders in delivering a meaningful education for our students as part of our Mission to prepare students to “thrive in a rapidly changing world.” We believe King students bring a unique blend of interests and talents to the educational experience. The Faculty designs a variety of programs that inspire individuality through the process of intellectual, physical, creative, emotional, and social inquiry and expression.
