Bio: Thomas King retired from his position as CEO of Barclays Investment Bank in March 2016. During his tenure as CEO and Chairman of the Investment Bank Executive Committee, and in response to the financial crisis, Tom implemented a significant restructuring of the bank including reshaping the Fixed Income Division and establishing a non-core unit housing over £100 billion of risk weighted assets. Tom joined Barclays in 2009 as Head of Investment Banking in Europe and as Global CoHead of Corporate Finance. In 2012, he added the title of Head of M&A. In 2013, he was promoted to Global Head of the Investment Bank and later that year to CEO of the Bank. He was also appointed at that time to the Executive Committee of Barclays plc. Prior to Barclays, Tom spent 20 years at Citi and its predecessor companies, having started at Salomon Brothers in 1989. Throughout his career as an M&A specialist he worked on numerous landmark public transactions in the US and throughout Europe.
Tom sits on the board of Leerink Partners, TenSoccer (not for profit) and the advisory board for Learn Fresh (not for profit). Tom is an avid golf and tennis player.
