The King Fund is absolutely critical to the ongoing success and financial stability of King School. It sustains programs and activities not covered by tuition. Every year, we ask our community to make meaningful gifts to The King Fund. 8% of King School’s annual budget is covered by the King Fund, and 100% percent of contributions to The King Fund are deployed in the current fiscal year. These immediate-use dollars power those additional 8% of programs and activities which transform King from excellent to extraordinary.
Simply, supporting The King Fund is the best way for parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends to help make a meaningful difference in the quality and quantity of programs and resources available at King. Your investment on an annual basis is a critical partnership to advance the mission of the School.
This year, King School has changed the name of our Annual Fund to The King Fund. We did this to better reflect our invitation to the King community to partner with school leadership in setting better standards for education. Investment in The King Fund is essential to providing students every opportunity to thrive.
You’ve experienced the extraordinary teachers at King. They set a better standard for education by driving our collaborative community in which every student can feel confident in taking risks and seizing opportunities because they feel known. Students thrive because of the self-discovery and inspiring community that define their experience here.
Your yearly support of The King Fund widens that margin of excellence. Your gifts enable competitive compensation to attract and retain the ambitious faculty members who create and sustain our distinctive programs. Your investment expands access to King for families who enrich our community and depend on competitive tuition assistance.
The King Fund is an opportunity for parents to affirm what they most value about King and set better standards for education. As always, our community’s goal is for 100% of current parents to make personally meaningful commitments to The King Fund every year. We hope that your early support can serve as an inspiration to others.
Additionally, we had over 30 parent volunteers on last year’s leadership committees who worked with us as ambassadors for annual giving. We’re incredibly grateful for all our dedicated volunteers! Please let us know if you’d like to participate for 2019-2020!
One of the most important ways you can support The King Fund is by making a pledge or gift early so the School can more thoughtfully allocate your gift. Donations to The King Fund must be allocated in the same academic year as the gifts are made, so please make a gift or pledge as early as possible.
King School today draws on and is inspired by the ideals of all of our predecessor schools: Low-Heywood, Thomas School, King School, Low-Heywood Thomas, and most recently KLHT.
King School still reflects the place where you dared to ask for more of your education. It’s the same environment where you experienced wonder, creativity, and joy as you discovered your unique path to excellence.
Alumni gifts to The King Fund make it possible to attract and retain the extraordinary faculty members who create expansive opportunities and set better standards for education. Your investment creates access for families who enrich our community and depend on tuition assistance. Loyal participation in The King Fund is an opportunity for you to show your appreciation for what you most value.
In the 2018-2019 academic year, 329 alumni generously donated to King School, our highest number ever! We hope to surpass that number this year!
Thanks to our Alumni Association President Amanda Metviner '06 for your strong leadership! Stay engaged with classmates and King on our Alumni page.
Each year, we strive to reach at least 70% of our total goal for The King Fund by December 31, and in 2018-19 we achieved 75%! Thank you to our generous donors who gave and pledged early, allowing the School the flexibility to most thoughtfully allocate their gifts. Please plan to make your gift or pledge by December 31!
Giving societies are a method or approach to securing a number of gifts at all levels. If The King Fund is to be successful, it must reflect the balance between leadership gifts and broad participation. Giving societies provide an opportunity for all donors to be recognized and acknowledged at the level of their generosity to King School. We expect different gifts from different people, and gifts from everyone.
The Head of School Society is a formal organization of lead benefactors to King School. Membership in the Society is open to all individuals, companies, and foundations who have made a minimum gift of $5,000 during the academic year. Each year, members of The Head of School Society will be invited to a private reception in recognition of their leadership generosity.
Many employers provide a corporate match for their employees' charitable gifts. Direct your matching gift to our School, and you are recognized at King for the full amount of your own gift plus the employer match! In many cases, this is a wonderful opportunity to reach a higher donor recognition society level.
Gifts to The King Fund range in size from $5 to $50,000. Strong parent participation makes a statement to our external community who look at such statistics when considering their support.
Our community’s collective goal every year is 100% parent participation. We urge parents, while their children are directly benefiting from all that King offers, to make the School their top philanthropic priority. Every gift matters and will make a difference in the daily experience of our students.
Leadership giving is the mainstay of The King Fund; the School depends on strong leadership giving from its most loyal and generous benefactors. Last year, these gifts represented 80% of all gifts received. Trustees, current parents, grandparents, alumni, and parents of alumni are counted among the School's most generous philanthropists and we’re so grateful for your investment in King.
Donors at our leadership levels are invited to a special reception honoring their generosity and hosted by Dr. Karen Eshoo, Head of School, and King’s Board of Trustees.
Employer matching gifts received by June 30 are also counted towards your support level!
Yes! The School values every gift regardless of size.
Last year, 429 gifts of $100 or less contributed $23,877 to the Annual Fund!
These contributions allow The King Fund to reach new milestones for total giving, directly benefiting each student's experience!
Participation is greatly valued as it ensures the strength of The King Fund and School year after year.
Launching each July 1 and ending on June 30, The King Fund is designed to support students and faculty in each academic year. Donors are encouraged to make a gift or pledge early and can fulfill their pledge anytime before June 30 each year. Donors can maximize their gift by scheduling their contributions in smaller and more convenient increments, if desired.
