New Student Orientation is scheduled from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on the Upper School campus. Students should arrive to the Performing Arts Center courtyard by 9:00 a.m., where they will be welcomed by student leaders, administrators, and grade deans. From there, students will be assigned small groups for socially-distanced icebreakers, discussion, and tours of the Upper School building. At that time, they will receive information about their schedules, their advisor, their classrooms, and they will also get a chance to have any questions answered so they feel comfortable and confident on the first day.
To help students have a successful start, it's important that they have access to information and communication. Therefore, our IT Department has put together this document, which students new to King should follow before coming to campus on September 2.
We also plan to hold an extended orientation from 10:30-11:45 a.m. just for Grade 9 students so they have a chance to be with each other to start the year. Students will connect with their advisors in their advisor groups so students have a chance to see and be seen by each other in a meaningful way as the grade forges its identity in the Upper School. We will also break up into discussion groups to go over student scenarios so they can learn more about community norms and protocols.
Please note:
- Students are not required to wear the King School uniform.
- Students, faculty and staff are required to wear masks indoors.
