Application Process & Timeline

At King, we view the application process as building a portfolio for each student. Every element, from the interview to the teacher recommendations to the report cards, is woven together to help the admission committee understand how our applicants may best enrich our community.

Please read the important information for all applicants as well as the grade-specific requirements before beginning the application.

Important Information for All Applicants

Admission portfolios completed after December 12, 2022 will be considered on a rolling basis and are not guaranteed to have an admission decision by February 17, 2023.
- Interviews
  - Parent and student interviews may be conducted via Zoom or in-person and may be scheduled once we receive the following components of the prospective student’s Admission Portfolio:
    - Student Profile
    - Parent Questionnaire or Statement
    - Non-refundable $75 application fee
  - We recommend that families contact the Admission Office to schedule interviews two weeks ahead of desired date and time
- Student Visits
  - We are excited to offer an on-campus experience for each prospective student. Please reach out to the Associate Director of Admission for your division of interest to schedule this opportunity.
- Teacher Recommendation Forms
  - Students in schools or districts that do not complete recommendation forms should request the Personal or Any Teacher Recommendation to be completed by a tutor and/or program director. Please call the Admission Office to discuss who should complete each form.
- If a school releases a required transcript after December 12, 2022 we will still consider this student in our first round of applications and guarantee an admission decision by February 17, 2023.

Standardized Testing:
- There are a variety of options to take either the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), including in-person and at-home, online testing.
- Applicants may take the ISEE or SSAT at any test site.
  - To register, contact the ISEE Office directly at 800.446.0320 or register online; or the SSAT Office at 609.683.4440 or register online. Testing options and locations are listed on testing websites.
  - When registering, please list King as one of the schools to which your child is applying so that test results will be sent directly to us. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited at all test sites.

To make the application process easier and more efficient for your family, King School uses SSAT’s Standard Application Online (SAO). Many of our peer schools also use the SAO. We hope that you will find this helpful and that it will free up your time to be thoughtful about finding your best fit school.
