Dear Kindergarten families,
Happy summer break! We are sharing with you the Summer Bridges activity book. While we support a play-based approach to acquiring and practicing readiness skills for our students entering Kindergarten, we recognize that some families appreciate a more traditional academic practice.
The Summer Bridges book is support for students to explore their academic skills over the summer months. It contains some content that we have covered throughout our year in Pre-K, as well as some concepts that will be new to your children and more explicitly taught in Kindergarten. Your child may explore this book at their leisure. The book includes fitness activities and fun outdoor extension activities..If your child uses the Summer Bridges book, please return it in the fall to your child's Kindergarten teacher.
Most of all, remember to PLAY. Encourage your child to employ the tools for play that we have used throughout the year such as loose parts play , story stones, sensory and nature exploration and, their story journals. Be playful together and have a wonderful summer break.
See you soon,
The PreKindergarten Team
