Meet Head of School Carol Maoz
Since January 2021, the Head of School Search Committee worked diligently to find the next leader for King School. With great excitement, we share that Carol Maoz has been appointed our Head of School. Carol served as King's Interim Head since July 2021, and her tenure as Head of School began on October 20, 2021.
As the Head Search Committee embarked on its search, we collected input from multiple constituencies and collectively identified the attributes we were looking for in our next leader. These attributes included a passion for education and academic excellence; a track record developing and implementing strategic initiatives; experience providing financial and operational leadership; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and the ability to partner with all the members of our community to deliver on our mission and advance our strategic vision.
When we first introduced Carol to the community back in March, we pointed to her three-decades-long trajectory in education and her track record as a knowledgeable and inspiring independent school leader. Since then, we have seen all of these qualities, as well as those we were looking for, embodied in her leadership and in her commitment to our students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni community.
Since July, Carol has made a positive impact on our school as we advance our strategic plan and focus on our day-to-day priorities. In addition to the strength of her skills and experience, Carol is a warm, caring, and compassionate leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and understands the importance of community. She has demonstrated tremendous dedication, energy, and enthusiasm for King School, and we are immensely grateful to continue to benefit from her guidance and experience.
The Head of School search process was exhaustive and productive, and we were encouraged by the reaction from a broad pool of prospective candidates. As we advanced the search, we saw in Carol the leader we were seeking. The Search Committee and the Board of Trustees unanimously voted and are delighted to appoint Carol as our next Head of School, a tried-and-true leader who is, as we have seen demonstrated, a natural fit for King School.

A Message From Head of School Carol Maoz
Dear King School Community,
It is with gratitude and great enthusiasm that I accept to serve as King School’s Head of School.
In my short time as a member of this community, I have had the opportunity to meet many of our families and work closely with our faculty and staff. I have visited classrooms and attended games and community events. I have seen students deeply immersed in their learning, teachers fully engaged in truly innovative lessons, and all members of the King staff invested in their respective duties with great care and attention. I feel fortunate to have experienced King in action – Open Minds and Courageous Thinking at their very best!
As Head of School, I am excited to continue to advance King’s strategic plan. I am both inspired and energized by the school’s commitment to academic excellence and to all that concept entails. King’s focus on student wellness and belonging aligns with my guiding principles as an educator and my beliefs about child and adolescent development. The student-centric approach to teaching and learning and the emphasis on collaboration, curiosity, and discovery, are of profound importance to me.
I look forward to continuing to strengthen the partnership with my colleagues and with all of our families to deliver on the King School mission as nothing resonates more today than the idea of preparing students for a rapidly changing world.
I take this opportunity to thank the Search Committee and the Board for leading a thoughtful hiring process. I am delighted to join a community that models the importance of lifelong learning and cares deeply about what is best for our children today and in the future.
