King Volleyball Captures 6th-Straight NEPSAC Title

By Wendell Maxey (King Sports Information & Social Media Liaison)

It was an impressive finish to the Fall Athletics season for the King School Varsity Volleyball team who defeated #1 seed Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in a 3-0 sweep to become the 2021 NEPSAC Class B Volleyball Champions.

The victory marked the sixth-straight NEPSAC title for the Vikings, who knocked off Suffield Academy and Middlesex School to reach the NEPSAC Finals.

Congratulations to the entire team and head coach Kat Wells and her coaching staff on a remarkable 16-1 regular season, becoming FAA Tournament runner-ups, and for capturing another NEPSAC trophy!

In addition to capturing the NEPSAC Championship, King School also received a number of postseason honors with Nicole Salantay (First Team), Norah Shattan (First Team), Catie Harvey (Second Team), Karina Rao (Second Team), and Caroline Ellis (Second Team) all taking home FAA awards for the Vikings. Four members of Vikings Volleyball were also recognized by NEPSAC for their outstanding play for the 2021 Fall season. NEPSAC Class B award winners included Nora Shattan (All-League Player of the Year), Nicole Salantay (All-League Player), Catie Harvey (Honorable Mention), and Caroline Ellis (Honorable Mention).

Three Seniors at King School -- Karina Rao, Nicole Salantay, and Norah Shattan -- also earned the first ever Best & Brightest Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The AVCA Best & Brightest Award honors individual high school senior student-athletes who excel on and off the court, and we are very proud to have three Vikings earn this award to highlight a remarkable 2021 Fall athletics season at King.
