Winter Vikings Roll with 9-1 Record in 2025!

To kick off the new year, the Vikings have been on quite a roll. Between Varsity Boys Basketball, Varsity Girls Basketball, and Varsity Boys Ice Hockey, the combined teams have only one loss since the ball dropped in 2024.

Boys Basketball has continued its hot streak, as the team has now won eight out of the last nine games, including an impressive and important NEPSAC Class B win over top-5 Canterbury on January 8, a big-time breakthrough road win over FAA rival Greenwich Country Day School on January 10 — the first in five years — and a hard-fought comeback league victory against Greens Farms Academy this past Wednesday. While all the players have stepped up their games during the streak, key contributors include A.J. Trimboli ’26, averaging 16.6 points and 5.2 assists per game, and Jonovan Bracey ’26, with 12.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
They will take to the court today at 5:00 p.m. in the upper school gym against South Kent.

Girls Basketball has also remained undefeated in the HVAL league after a home win over Forman School on January 11 and a road win over Watkinson on Wednesday. They took on a tough Germantown Friends Team from Philadelphia in the first game of the new year but then bounced back with a quality NEPSAC win over Frederick Gunn School on January 8. Coach Stefan Driehuizen has been thrilled with the effort, hard work, and dedication of the players, who have helped build up the culture of the team, and the commitment is paying off, as evidenced by the results so far in the young season. The team will be back in action today at Christian Heritage at 4:15 p.m.

Boys Ice Hockey has also started up their own streak with a win over Frederick Gunn on the first day back to school last week, followed by two FAA league wins over Hamden Hall over the past two Wednesdays. The back-to-back games with the Hornets each took on a different flow, with the road win coming in at 4-1 and the home game this week seeing the Vikings go up 3-1, give up the next two goals, and then score with 27 seconds left to play to win 4-3! Scorers for King included a goal from Alex Strug ’27, a goal by Will Glassmeyer ’25, and two goals by Brayden Hekle ’28, including the game-winner. The team will be back on the road today with a 4:00 p.m. at the Harvey School in Katonah.

Although there have been no competitions yet in 2025 for Varsity Squash, Girls Club Ice Hockey, or Indoor Crew, athletes from all three programs have all been hard at work this winter. Girls Hockey took to the ice at Stamford Twin Rinks bright and early on Wednesday this week for a scrimmage before school. They will hit the bulk of their playing season in the coming weeks. Squash will take to the courts next Thursday at 4:15 p.m. against Greenwich Country Day School at MSquash in Port Chester. The Crew athletes train every day after school and are excited to host the first-ever Crew Athlete vs. Faculty/Staff Erg Challenge on Saturday morning of the Winter Showcase on Saturday, February 1.

Come on out to support the Vikings as they look to continue their winning ways and keep rolling this winter! Follow all of the action on Instagram, watch the live streams on the Vikings Live page, and keep up with schedules and scores for all of the teams here.
