Welcome Vikings

Torrential rain did not dampen the enthusiasm and bustle of the first week of school on the King School campus. Students, faculty, and staff reunited on Tuesday, September 6, to kick off the new year.

The only milestone missing this year was the traditional Ringing of the Bells ceremony, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, and needed to be canceled due to weather. The beloved all-school assembly will now take place on Monday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. on the Segalas Field.

Students in all divisions attended their first assemblies of the year and heard messages from leadership about the importance of the King School community and the values that Vikings uphold. In class, teachers set expectations for the year and began their first lessons. Lunch felt different this year across divisions; the plexiglass dividers installed during the pandemic came down, and students were able to enjoy one another’s company and a delicious lunch served by food provider Flick.

Students in Grade 8 ended their week with an overnight trip to Philadelphia. Other grades engaged in various age-appropriate team-building activities fostering a sense of belonging among classmates. Middle school and upper school athletes began the fall season; artists and performers resumed their respective activities.

Welcome back to all of our Vikings! We wish you a terrific year!
