Vikings Secure One Title With the Postseason Fast Approaching!

Varsity Girls Golf
The Girls Golf team has capped off a remarkable regular season, finishing as undefeated FAA Regular Season champions and firmly establishing themselves as the top team in the league this season!  Their success has been driven by consistent scoring, depth across the lineup, and a focused, team-first approach throughout the season.

This week, the team also celebrated Senior Day, honoring senior captain Sophia Santomaro and Cece Campbell for their leadership and contributions to the program. Sophia’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding the team’s success, while both seniors have helped set the standard for commitment and sportsmanship.

The Vikings now turn their attention to Monday’s FAA Championship, where they are well-positioned to make a strong push and continue their outstanding season.

Varsity Girls Varsity Tennis
Yesterday, the Girls Varsity Tennis team hosted Hamden Hall for a special Senior Day match, celebrating senior athletes Sophie Fishkin, Gillian Lehneis, and Evelyn Kircher for their dedication and contributions to the program. Captains Sophie and Evelyn, along with Gillian, have provided outstanding leadership throughout the season, helping set the tone for the team’s competitive spirit and commitment.

The celebration was made even more memorable with a 5–2 victory over Hamden Hall. The team delivered a strong performance across the lineup, showcasing their growth and momentum as the postseason approaches.

With the win, the Vikings improve to a 6–2 record, with three matches remaining next week before the FAA Championships. The team looks to carry this energy forward as they close out the regular season.

The team now turns its focus to a game today against Hamden Hall and an important matchup against Holy Child on Wednesday next week that will help shape the postseason picture.
We’re also proud to recognize Elizabeth Tuttle ’27 and Emma Drexel ’27, who have been selected to participate in the Betsy Conger Western New England All-Star Game this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Loomios Chaffee School. Varsity Boys Tennis
Vikings Varsity Tennis is riding a three-match winning streak, highlighted by strong team performances and key individual contributions.

The run began with a statement 5–2 win over St. Luke’s. At No. 1 doubles, Nate Barry ’26 and Tyler Koons ’28 clinched the match with a thrilling contest that came down to a decisive third-set breaker.
The Vikings carried that momentum forward with dominant back-to-back 7–0 sweeps over Wooster and Hamden Hall, showcasing depth and consistency across the lineup.

The team returns to the courts today for a Senior Day matchup against Masters at Sterling Farms at 4:30 p.m. Following the match, the program will celebrate seniors Nate, Edward (Eddie) Danziger, and Harrison Kittell for their contributions and commitment to King Varsity Tennis.

Varsity Boys Lacrosse
The Vikings have been busy over the past two weeks, going 3–1 through a challenging stretch and showing impressive depth and resilience as a program.

The run began with a dominant performance against Wooster, where the coaching staff was able to get everyone on the field. Backup goalies saw meaningful time in net, several players scored their first goals of the season, and in a memorable moment, starting goalie John Lewis ’29 stepped in at attack and found the back of the net. Zach Friedman ’28, Matthew Sroka ’29, and faceoff specialist Max French ’29 were standouts in the win.

South Kent proved to be a wake-up call, as the Vikings were tested physically and pushed into a tight battle. Showing strong character, King responded when it mattered most, with Dylan Martin ’28 scoring the game-winner in overtime to secure a 10–9 victory. Henry Sklar ’26 anchored a defensive effort that kept the team within reach and set the stage for the comeback.

The Vikings then faced a tough Canterbury squad, falling 6–4 in a closely contested matchup. Backup goalie Ben Cohen ’28 stepped into the starting role and delivered an outstanding performance, keeping King in contention throughout. The defensive unit once again showed its strength against a skilled opponent.

In one of the most exciting games of the season, the Vikings earned a 14–12 win over St. Luke’s in a back-and-forth contest filled with scoring runs and momentum swings. Alex Moskowitz ’27 led the offense while drawing the opposition’s top defensive attention, and Rowan Martin ’29 and Charlie Cahill ’29 delivered key scoring contributions. Ben was steady once again in net, while the long pole unit of Henry, Topher Jackson ’29, Dylan Oertel ’28, and Jake Oertel ’28 played a critical role in closing out the win.

With three important regular season games remaining, all against FAA opponents, the Vikings look ahead to a key matchup against Hamden Hall on Senior Day today.
