King School athletes opened the postseason with energy, confidence, and results across multiple sports, setting the tone for a packed championship weekend ahead. From deep runs at the FAA Tennis Tournament to record-breaking performances on the track and strong finishes in golf and other league competition, Vikings teams continue to elevate their play as they advance into the New England championship season. 

Postseason Schedule

• Boys Tennis advances to their first New England Tournament as the top seed, and will open up play on Saturday morning at Wooster School in Danbury!
• Girls Tennis also earned a bid in the Class C New England Tournament at Millbrook School, and will defend their back-to-back titles on Saturday morning!
• Track & Field athletes from both the Boys and Girls teams had great performances at the FAA Championship meets and now move on to the New England Championship meet at Marianapolis Prep School on Saturday!
• Crew athletes will compete in the US Rowing Northeast Youth Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Mercer Lake in New Jersey!
• Baseball has earned the top seed in the Dickerman Division of the New England Small Schools Tournament and will host Wooster School on Monday at 2:00 p.m.!
   

Varsity Girls Tennis 
The Girls Varsity Tennis Team came out swinging at the FAA Tournament this past weekend.

At No. 1 singles, captain Anaiya Shah ’27 advanced to the quarterfinals, while No. 4 singles player Zoe Paksi ’30 also reached the quarterfinal round.

At No. 3 doubles, captain Evelyn Kircher ’26 and Hannah Rieser ’27 powered through two rounds before falling in the quarterfinals to the eventual FAA champions.

At No. 1 doubles, Sienna Adams ’28 and Terrielle Maltese ’29 showed why they earned the No. 2 seed, advancing to the finals and finishing as the league doubles runner-up.

The Vikings will now move on to the Class C New England Tournament this weekend. The team will travel to the Millbrook School, where they will take on Westover School in the first round. Winners advance to the semi-finals later Saturday afternoon, with a chance to move on to the finals on Sunday. King is the back-to-back defending Class C Champions and will be looking to make another run in the postseason with a deep and talented group of athletes!

Varsity Boys Tennis 
The Varsity Boys Tennis Team battled through an electric weekend of FAA Tournament play in New Haven, coming away with gritty doubles wins and one of the program’s biggest postseason breakthroughs in decades.

Eighth grader Rohan Josyula ’30 continued his outstanding season by winning both of his singles matches to punch his ticket to the FAA semifinals, which were played Tuesday at Brunswick School. Rohan battled fearlessly against a talented opponent, showcasing the poise and competitive fire that have made him one of the league’s rising young stars.
The excitement does not stop there.

The Vikings have officially qualified for the NEPSAC Class C Tournament and earned the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, an historic accomplishment for the program. They will travel to Wooster School on Saturday to take on Marianapolis Prep School in the first round. Winners advance to the semi-finals later on Saturday, before the finals at Deerfield Academy on Sunday.

According to records dating all the way back to 1999, this marks the first time this century that Boys Varsity Tennis has qualified for the NEPSAC Tournament, cementing this season as one of the most successful in program history.

Girls Golf Earns All-FAA Honors
The Girls Golf program celebrated a pair of impressive accomplishments as two seventh graders earned All-FAA recognition this season.

Lyla Chong ’31 was named to the All-FAA First Team, while Tanya Jain ’31 earned All-FAA Second Team honors.

Their achievements highlight a bright future for the Vikings golf program.

FAA Track & Field Championships Recap
King Track & Field delivered an outstanding performance at the FAA Championships, with four athletes earning All-FAA honors while multiple athletes set school records and personal bests.

Freshman sensation Aniya Garcia led the way on the girls’ side, winning the javelin with a throw of 90’1” while also finishing third in both the shot put (29’4.5”) and discus (74’0”). Aniya recorded personal bests in all three events and broke the school record in the shot put. She also teamed up with Gia Bruno, Natalie Modica, and Kate Johnson to place eighth in the 4x100m relay.

Senior Emily McKee captured the high jump title for the second straight year, clearing 4’10”. Freshman Clara Kulig earned All-FAA honors after finishing third in the high jump with a freshman-record leap of 4’6”. Junior captain Gia Bruno added a sixth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 1:04.75, narrowly missing the school record.

On the boys’ side, senior Julian Dent Jr. ’26 helped King complete the high jump sweep by winning the event and tying the school record with a jump of 6’2”. He also placed fifth in the triple jump (38’0”). Junior captain Krystian Gaston ’27 set a new school record in the triple jump with a fourth-place finish of 38’7.5” and also placed sixth in the high jump (5’4”). Myles Gadson ’28 finished sixth in the 100m with a time of 11.70 seconds.

The boys’ 4x100m relay team of Mason Hauben ’27, Julian Dent Jr. ’26, Daniel Peterkin ’27, and Myles Gadson ’28 placed fifth with a time of 48.24 seconds.

The Vikings will send their largest-ever team to the New England Championships on Saturday at Marianapolis Prep School. The following athletes have qualified:
