Spring training was in full effect for the Vikings as our spring teams experienced an amazing week of training in Florida, preparing for the 2024 campaign.
King Baseball got in some good work at Universal Orlando with the help of KSA Events. Both the JV and Varsity squads prepared for the upcoming season. Perfect weather, good times, great baseball, and even some time at the theme parks offered bonding opportunities. Baseball returned home ready for a tremendous season, and while the weather has not yet cooperated, Varsity got one Fairchester Athletics Association (FAA) game in last week on Tuesday, March 26, bringing home the first official Viking victory of the season with an 8-1 home win over Hopkins School!
King Softball also enjoyed the week at Universal as they took to the fields, cages, pools, and parks to get ready for another Western New England Championship run. Nothing helps prepare a team like a week of sun and fun. While the season's initial matches have been delayed by rain, the first game is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, at home against Rye Country Day. Good luck to the Vikings this season.
Vikings Boys Lacrosse also got it done in Florida with three convincing performances on the field and lots of work, pool, and Universal Studios time for the players. Upon returning home, the Vikings opened the season on Monday, April 1, with a 12-9 victory over Canterbury School.
Next up, was the Tampa contingent. King Boys and Girls Tennis and Boys and Girls Golf athletes prepared for the season at the Saddlebrook Golf and Tennis Resort.
Boys Tennis got in some extensive training with the tennis school. Coaches reported that the experience was another fun and productive trip, with the athletes giving 110% every day. We can’t wait for the season to start.
Vikings Girls Tennis spent the week getting faster, stronger, and better on the courts. The highlight of the trip was watching all the athletes from the different teams come together and enjoy the time they got to spend together as a group.
Vikings Golf was in full swing in Tampa. 22 golfers from our three teams converged on Saddlebrook. The week was filled with golf, sun, dinners, and field trips. Some amazing games were played across the board setting both Boys and Girls Varsity Golf programs to have their most successful years ever.
King Crew hit DeLand, Florida at Stetson University for some early season work. Amazing memories and a week of hard work will certainly fuel the Vikings for a great 2024 season.
King Track & Field and Girls Lacrosse athletes put the work in closer to home, training, and team building on and off campus. Both teams are geared up and ready to take on all comers once the competition season starts up.
Thank you to all of the athletes and coaches who put the work in this March break to put our teams and programs in a position to excel and thrive this Spring!
