King Crew

King Crew had a positive showing this past weekend at the Founders Day Regatta at Lake Waramaug in New Preston. The varsity rowers had two out of three boats advance to petite finals, with the B1 boat taking first in their petite final.

The team then celebrated Senior Day for the nine seniors in the program at the Row America Greenwich Boathouse after practice. This special group of seniors has shown an incredible commitment to this team and their sport. Zach Lew, Spencer Neckritz, Sawyer Phillips, and Max Wachter entered the program as Grade 6 students with King Middle School Crew. Sawyer joined King Varsity Crew in the spring of his eighth-grade year, and the rest of this year’s seniors, including Rodrigo Costa, Juan Vincente-Esparrago, Sammy Cohen, Grant Dietz, and Max Krueger, joined the program in high school. Most of these athletes participated in all three seasons during the fall, winter, and spring throughout their careers. This group made the decision to stay together, share their love of the sport, and leave behind a legacy for future Viking rowers to build upon. Congratulations, King Crew Seniors!

The team will take on Notre Dame High School this Saturday, May 10, before competing in the Northeast Regionals on the Merrimack River in Lowell, MA, the following weekend.

Varsity Girls Tennis

The Girls Varsity Tennis team concluded their regular season with a 5-5 record. This week included a victory against Harvey School on Tuesday, May 7, and a competitive, close loss to St. Luke's School. The Vikings look forward to the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Tournament at Hopkins School this Saturday, May 11, entering the competition with three singles players and one doubles team seeded, including Ashlynn Koons ’25, who swept the St. Luke’s #1 single at the overall two seed in the top flight of the singles bracket. Congratulations to the lone senior, Layla Shah, who was celebrated and recognized before and after the St. Luke’s match on Thursday, May 9. Layla wraps up her career after four years on the courts for the Vikings!

Varsity Girls Lacrosse

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team concluded their regular season with a 12-8 win over Christian Heritage School on Wednesday, May 8. Maggie O'Callaghan ’25 and Tatum Ryan ’24 led the way with nine combined goals, while Leila Mulshine ’24 was outstanding in goal with a game-high 11 saves.

With the win, the Vikings locked up the two seed in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) playoffs and will host third seed Wooster School on Monday, May 13, at 4:30 p.m. This is the first time in more than a decade that the girls have earned the right to host a playoff game! King split with Wooster during the regular season, and Monday’s game will see the winner move on to play in the HVAL Championship game on Wednesday, May 15!

Varsity Girls Golf

On Thursday at Sterling Farms Golf Course, King Girls Golf earned their first match sweep of the spring season, 5-0 over Rye Country Day School! This was the final dual match of the spring and saw each player in the lineup get a win, with junior Maria Sharavarnyk leading the way with a very strong 43. Congratulations to Maria and her teammates Emily Beurket ’27, Sophia Santomaro ’26, Maddie Scanlon ’25, and Grace Anderson ’25!

The Vikings also had a good day on the course at Tamarack Country Club on Monday, May 6, in the FAA championship match. Maria was the top finisher for King and missed making All-League by just one stroke! Some of the athletes will compete in the 38th Annual Pippy O’Connor Independent School Girls Golf Tournament on Monday, May 13, at The Orchards in South Hadley, Mass. This is the first time for King to be competing in this prestigious event. Good luck, Vikings!

Varsity Boys Lacrosse

Boys Lacrosse has not dropped a league game this season, and after an 18-3 victory over Hopkins School on Tuesday, it is safe to say that the Vikings are peaking at just the right time! King secured the regular season title and locked in the top seed in the FAA playoffs with the win over Hopkins. They will wrap up league play this afternoon at Greens Farms Academy and then look ahead to next week when they will host Hamden Hall in a league semi-final at 4:30 p.m. on the Segalas Family South Turf Field.

Varsity Baseball

King Baseball has steadily been improving its play throughout the season. The Vikings dropped a tough 4-3 loss at the hands of Brunswick School earlier this week; however, after getting several key league wins, they have earned a spot in the FAA playoffs! With only four teams advancing in the FAA, this moves King into the semi-finals on Tuesday, May 14. They will have their work cut out for them as they will travel to take on top-seeded Hamden Hall, but anything can happen in one game!

The resilient bunch will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, May 11, with a home game at 11:00 a.m. against Greenwich Country Day School. This game was originally scheduled for Friday, May 10, but was postponed due to rain. This will also be Senior Day for the Vikings as they celebrate and recognize their talented group of seniors: Jake Silver, Jack Wilkos, Chase Phillips, Adrien Davies, and Hayden Toporoff-Richman. Good luck! Go Vikings!

Varsity Boys Tennis

Varsity Boys Tennis wrapped up their regular season play Thursday, May 9, against The Masters School with an impressive 5-2 win! The Vikings were excited and focused, earning wins in all of the singles matches and also at third doubles! It was a key win for the Vikings, as it sends the athletes into the FAA Tournament tomorrow with some very positive momentum!

Best of luck to all of our spring athletes competing over the next two weeks.
