Spring Season Underway for Upper and Middle School Teams

After a successful winter season, which saw all four varsity teams advance to the postseason, and all of our middle school teams win at least half of their games, the Vikings are transitioning to the spring lineup of upper and middle school programs.

Upper school baseball and softball kicked things off with pitchers and catchers reporting the week of February 19. All other players, along with Varsity Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams, hit the fields this past Monday, February 26.

Boys and girls tennis, boys and girls golf, and track & field all get going this Monday, March 4, and crew will hit the water on March 25. Eight of the spring programs will travel south to Florida over the March break, with baseball, softball, and boys lacrosse traveling to Orlando for training, while athletes from the tennis and golf teams will train at Saddlebrook north of Tampa. Crew athletes will round out the Florida groups as they take to the water in Deland, Florida, at Stetson University.

Middle school spring sports started up with orientation yesterday, where special recognition was given to our three undefeated teams so far this school year: Middle School Boys Red Soccer, Middle School Football, and Middle School Girls Blue Basketball!

After an impressive indoor season this winter, Anya Anderson ’25 has earned the privilege and honor to represent King at the Nike Indoor Track Nationals at the Armory in New York City on March 9 and 10. Qualifying in the 55-meter dash is quite an accomplishment. Anya will compete against 87 of the top sprinters in the country!

Please tune in to the Channel 12 News at 5:00 p.m. this evening as they recognize King Varsity Ice Hockey as their Team of the Week! Over the past three seasons, the Vikings, under the guidance of head coach Guy Savage, have captured three regular season titles and two Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Tournament Championships! Look for all of our winter athlete postseason recognition, including all-league and all-New England selections, in next week’s newsletter.

Congratulations to all of our winter athletes, and good luck to the spring athletes as they strive for excellence and success this season!

Go Vikings!
