Softball and Boys Tennis Honor Senior Vikings and King of Spring Weekend Highlights

King Softball Honored Their Seniors in Emphatic Fashion

On Wednesday, April 30, the Vikings defeated The Frederick Gunn School 18-8 on their home Armstrong and King Family FIelds Diamond on Senior Day.

It was an offensive explosion for King, who were led by their senior duo of Abby Seeberger ’24 and Jordyn Guevara ’24. Jordyn was effective all afternoon on the mound, while her co-captain Abby hit a key home run to help stretch the Viking’s lead. Both seniors have been key contributors for many years in the program, and each has contributed to the success of the team this season on the mound, in the field, and at the plate. Congratulations to the seniors and their families for all they have brought to King Softball and all they have accomplished this season!

King Softball has four more regular season games left on their schedule, including their final home game of the season on Tuesday, May 7, against Millbrook School, before finding out if they will qualify for any postseason opportunities.

We look forward to rooting for the Vikings!

Boys Tennis Celebrated The Team's Seniors in Style

Seniors Nick Kurbanov ’24 and Josh Gershon ’24 were honored with their families this past Wednesday, May 1, at Sterling Farms in a pregame Senior Day ceremony celebrating their contributions to King Tennis. Both players have helped the program grow and played key roles, with Nick at singles and Josh at doubles, in the 6-1 win over Hamden Hall.

King Tennis still has some important matches on the horizon, with a home match against St. Luke’s on Tuesday, May 7, and their final match of the season at Masters School on Thursday, May 9. The Vikings will begin FAA Tournament play next Saturday, May 11, at Greens Farms Academy. We wish Nick, Josh, and the entire team the best of luck as they prepare for the postseason.

King of Spring Athletic Highlights

Thank you to everyone who attended a great day of Vikings sports last weekend! It was an eventful Saturday, as five King programs took to the fields!

The day started with JV Baseball on Feinberg Field. The team fought hard and came back with two big rallies after being down but ultimately fell 9-7 to Greenwich Country Day School.

Varsity Baseball took the mound following the conclusion of the JV game. The Vikings were able to win by a decisive score of 7-1 against Fieldston. It was a key mid-season victory for a team looking to make some postseason noise!

Over on Segalas Family South Turf Field, both varsity lacrosse teams played in their respective games.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse took the field first, coming up short against non-league Masters School.

Varsity Boys Lacrosse responded with a convincing 17-2 win over FAA league opponent Kingswood Oxford.

Varsity Softball closed out the day with an exciting intrasquad game scrimmage after getting word late on Friday that Harvey School was not going to be able to get their team to King for the game on Saturday. All players contributed to the event, and some of the coaches even got in on the action!

It was a successful day for the Vikings and the King community, who came out in large numbers to support the athletes and teams, visit the Viking Pride spirit table and photo booth, and hit the slider and ice cream food trucks!

Thank you to all for your contributions to the wonderful day!
