The postseason is upon us for our spring Vikings, and many teams have their seeding and schedules set!
This Saturday will see three FAA championship tournaments take place, with one more to go on Monday:
- Track and Field will get the day going at 10:00 a.m. with the FAA Championship Meet at Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
- The FAA Girls Tennis Championship will kick off with the first several rounds starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greens Farms Academy.
- The first rounds of the FAA Boys Tennis Championship will start up at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Hopkins School in New Haven.
- Boys Golf will travel to Centennial Golf in Carmel Hamlet, New York, on Monday for the FAA Championship Meet.
Lacrosse
Girls Lacrosse and Boys Lacrosse have each earned top seeds in their respective tournaments beginning on Tuesday.
Girls Lacrosse has been on a tremendous streak to remain undefeated on the season, and has earned the top seed in the HVAL Tournament! The Vikings will wrap up their regular season this afternoon with a 4:15 p.m. game on the Segalas Family South Turf against Harvey School, then open up the playoffs on Tuesday.
Boys Lacrosse took to the field on Thursday against rival Greens Farms Academy, with the winner gaining home-field advantage for the playoffs. After a slow start and a 5-3 deficit at the half, the Vikings picked up their intensity and focus and went on a roll in the second half, outscoring the Dragons 7-3 over the final two quarters to win 10-8! King will now host the same GFA squad on Tuesday.
It will be an exciting lacrosse double-header at King on the Segalas Family South Turf on Tuesday, May 13!

Softball
Softball will wrap up its regular season tomorrow, hosting Hopkins at 11:00 a.m. at King. Several other teams in the FAA also have to wrap up their seasons with games on Saturday and Monday. Once the dust settles and the league standings are set, the Vikings will find out if they will qualify for the playoffs and get their match-up and game schedule for the league semifinals on Tuesday.

Blake Zarkowsky Takes Home FAA Golf Title!
Sophomore Blake Zarkowsky ’27 battled through brutal conditions at Fairview Country Club in Greenwich on Monday, May 5, to claim co-champion honors at the FAA Girls Golf Championship. Despite crazy weather and rain, she stayed locked in and carded a very impressive 3-over 39 for a share of the title and First Team All-League recognition. Senior Maria Sharavarnyk ’25 also had a strong round, earning Second Team All-League honors! Joining Blake and Maria on the course in the rain were Emily Buerket ’27 and Sophia Santomaro ’26. Next up for several Vikings is the 39th Annual Pippy O’Connor New England Championship Tournament on Monday, May 12, at Simsbury Farms Golf Course.
Emma Drexel walks it off for Softball!
King Varsity Softball pulled off a thrilling 1-0 win over School of the Holy Child on Wednesday. Emma Drexel ’27 hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to seal the victory. Elizabeth Tuttle ’27 was dominant on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout with 14 strikeouts and just four hits allowed. This was a huge league win as the team gears up for the postseason.
Congratulations to Emma and Elizabeth on being selected to participate in the Betsy Conger All-Star Game on Sunday, May 4. They took the field with some of the best prep players from across New England, helping their squad to an exciting 10-9 win!
King Crew Earns Two Silvers at Long Island Championship Regatta
At the Long Island High School Championship Regatta in Hempstead, NY, on Sunday, May 4, King Crew saw two boats place second in their flights to earn two silver medals. Congratulations to Izzy McDonald ’27 and Teagan Robinson ’26. Izzy earned her first silver in the U17 singles division, and both Izzy and Teagan rowed together to a silver in the U17 doubles division. The rowers will be back on the water next weekend in the Northeast Youth Regional Championships in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Celebrating Seniors
It was also a busy final week of the regular season with Senior Day celebrations for five of our spring teams.
Varsity Girls Tennis
Although it was a rainy afternoon on Monday, it did not stop the Varsity Girls Tennis from celebrating their three seniors at the Simon House in front of teammates, family, and friends. Congratulations to Ashlynn Koons ’25, Devon Lehneis ’25, Dahlia Barrett ’25, and their families for their outstanding contributions to the team and the program!
Varsity Girls Lacrosse
What a day for King Varsity Girls Lacrosse Seniors as they rolled to a big win over Christian Heritage on Wednesday! The Vikings stay undefeated and will wrap up the regular season today against Harvey School before heading into the HVAL playoffs as the top seed on Tuesday, May 13.
Congratulations to the seniors and their families for everything they’ve done for the program: Taylor Ansel ’25, Abi Bley ’25, Abby Block ’25, Maggie O’Callaghan ’25, Sophia Roy ’25, and Katie Ruhe ’25!
Varsity Boys Golf
Varsity Boys Golf celebrated seniors Griffin Joo ’25 and Captain Charles Cook ’25 on Wednesday, May 7. It was a bittersweet celebration recognizing the dedication and hard work of these two incredible young men. Beautiful weather made it even better as family and friends gathered to honor the accomplishments of these seniors.
Varsity Baseball
King Varsity Baseball celebrated Senior Day last Saturday. Congratulations to the five seniors and their families for all they’ve contributed to the program: Gavin Garrison ’25, Jacob Greenberger ’25, Tim McGrath ’25, Harrison Mirkin ’25, and Alex Ramos ’25. We’re proud of everything this group has accomplished — on and off the field.
Varsity Boys Tennis
Varsity Boys Tennis honored their seniors at Senior Day on Thursday against St. Luke’s at Sterling Farms. Congratulations to the three seniors, Campbell Essex ’25, Parker Hayashi ’25, and Ethan Schamberg ’25, and their families for everything they have brought to the team and program over the years!
King of Spring Celebration Continues into May
We were excited to continue celebrating our spring athletes and community on April 30 and May 7 for our final King of Spring days! Fans were treated to fast and thrilling action on the field and diamonds, and free ice cream and King swag courtesy of Viking Pride! April 30 saw double-header varsity lacrosse games, while it was triple-header varsity action on the 7th, with Softball, Baseball, and Girls Lacrosse games taking place. Over the two days, the King teams went an impressive 4-1, and more than 700 ice creams were given out by the King Cone ice cream truck!
Viking Pride also hosted the King of Spring raffles, and we are excited to announce the winners:
