Planning for Fall Athletics

It has been a strong spring so far and many of our teams, and athletes are gearing up for postseason competitions and events. With the end of the school year approaching, and summer on the horizon, it is time to start looking ahead to the upper school fall athletics season and to many important activities happening in the coming months. King’s Fall Athletics Fair is on Thursday, May 25, summer training opportunities are lining up, and preseason starts in August.


Fall Preseason Schedule and Athlete Orientation

See below for fall preseason information and opening schedules. Coaches will be in touch with more specific details for each program, and all finalized information will be available at the Fall Athletics Fair on May 25 (info below).
 
New This Fall: Returning varsity players and any students who would like to be considered for varsity in Field Hockey, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, and Girls Volleyball should mark their calendars for the first two days of preseason training sessions on Tuesday, August 22 and Wednesday, August 23. Training for all other fall student-athletes will begin on Thursday, August 24.
 
Here is the opening schedule for fall teams:

  • Thursday-Saturday, August 17-19: Football conditioning sessions for all football athletes.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, August 22-23: Morning training sessions for all Football, Crew, and Cross Country athletes and all students who want to be considered for varsity in Field Hockey, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, and Girls Volleyball. After the morning workouts on August 22, we will hold a Fall Captain workshop and lunch.
  • Thursday, August 24: Orientation for all fall athletes in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 8:00 a.m., followed by training sessions for all teams.
  • Friday, August 25: Morning training for all fall teams, followed by the Fall Athlete Day Celebration with food, music, and Gatorade product giveaways!
  • Saturday, August 26: Some teams will practice, and others will have the day off.
  • Monday-Saturday, August 28-September 2: The full schedule of practices, scrimmages, and events for this week will be shared at the Fall Athletics Fair on May 25.
  • Thursday, August 31: Please make sure to mark your calendars for the annual Vikings Family Cookout & Meet the Coach Night at 6:00 p.m. in the Upper School courtyard.

All teams will be off on September 3 and 4, and the new school year will begin on Tuesday, September 5!

Summer Institute and Summer Training Opportunities

Many of our coaches will coordinate and schedule training and playing opportunities over the summer. In addition to these tremendous chances to work out and compete, we also have King Summer Institute clinics running. In addition, if you are interested in any of our on-campus summer partner organization programs for Soccer, Field Hockey, Basketball, or Boys Lacrosse, let us know, and we will help get you in touch with the right person.

Upper School Fall Athletics Fair
Thursday, May 25 | 3:30-4:30 p.m. | Upper School Gym
 
The Fall Athletics Fair is for all rising students in Grades 9-12 (returning and new-to-King) who are considering playing a sport in the fall. Coaches and varsity team captains from each of our Upper School fall teams will be present in the gym to answer questions and talk about their programs, and to meet and talk with students and parents. Students attending will also be able to sign up for the fall sport of their choice and add their names and contact information to our team communication lists.
 
For anyone unable to attend the fair, please reach out to the team head coach listed below or to Mr. Decker by no later than Friday, May 26, to let them know which team roster you would like to be added to.
