King parents and school leadership gathered in high spirits for the annual Parents’ Association (PA) Welcome Back Breakfast, celebrating the start of another exciting school year and highlighting opportunities for greater community involvement. The event, held on Friday, September 13, at Serafresca at the IC, saw a remarkable turnout, with both new and returning families filling the room, eager to reconnect and celebrate the start of the 2024-25 academic year.

Head of School Carol Maoz began the event by welcoming attendees and explaining the importance of the PA.

“The Parents' Association holds a special place within our King School family and personally for me, serving as the connective thread that weaves together our shared commitment to our students' growth and success,” she said.

PA President Hillary Rosenthal P’32, now entering her fifth year as a King parent, followed Maoz to share her excitement about beginning her term as President and highlighted the PA's mission, which centers on fostering community among parents, students, faculty, and staff. She emphasized how the association is critical in promoting school spirit, supporting parent committees, and leading fundraising initiatives that benefit the entire King community.

In line with the school’s 2024-25 theme of "Making Connections," Rosenthal explained how the PA’s efforts are rooted in creating meaningful relationships through community service, school spirit events, and parent gatherings. "Every encounter is a connection that only builds the strength of the PA," she said, encapsulating the essence of what makes King’s PA so special.

The morning also served as an introduction to the dedicated PA Executive Board:

• Antoinette Sullivan, Secretary
• Anna Greenberg, Treasurer
• Sandy Burgoyne, Past President

Rosenthal also recognized the numerous Committee Chairs, Grade Representatives, and Divisional Vice Presidents. She encouraged all parents to get involved, noting that participation in these various committees is a way to contribute and a chance to build lasting friendships.

Following the formal remarks, there was a palpable sense of enthusiasm for the year ahead as parents mixed, mingled, and browsed tables featuring many of the year’s volunteer opportunities. The PA plays a vital role in all aspects of King's life — admissions, athletics, arts, fundraising, school spirit, and community service — and Rosenthal reinforced her message with an invitation to all parents.

"Please volunteer, connect with other parents, and share your time and talents. I promise you will love it as much as I do," she shared.
