King Community Rallies for Annual Family Day of Service

Bringing together students, families, and faculty, this year’s King Cares Family Day of Service once again drew a record number of participants in a shared commitment to service. Throughout the day, more than 300 people supported 23 partner organizations through hands-on projects across campus, during King's largest single-day service initiative.

“We had a record number of people sign up beforehand, as well as first thing this morning,” said Director of King Cares Karen Raidt. “We even ran out of name tags at the check-in!”

The day began with refreshments and welcome remarks in the lower school gym before participants dispersed across campus to a wide range of activities. Throughout the morning, community members across all divisions worked side by side on initiatives, including assembling food and care packages, creating handmade items to donate to those in need, washing cars to raise money for partner organizations, and more.

“This is a great celebration of community and the school’s wonderful partnerships with so many organizations,” said Charlie Schwartz ’26. “I'm super excited to have been here today and have been connected with King Cares throughout my King career.”

“Giving back to the community and service has really fulfilled me and has brought a positive light to my everyday life,” added Henry Sklar ’26. “Service has really changed my outlook for the better, and to all the younger students here, I really encourage you to get involved in any way possible.”

Attendees concluded the event in the Performing Arts Center courtyard, where they enjoyed food from the Big Green Pizza Truck, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon animals, cookie decorating, playing with puppies available for adoption, and music performances from Project Music and King students.

“King Cares has united not only students at King, but communities throughout Stamford and beyond,” said Noor Nomani ’27. “It is truly inspiring to witness what people can accomplish when they come together.”
