From postseason honors to early-season wins, King Athletics continues to build on a strong foundation of talent and teamwork. A standout winter marked by league and NEPSAC recognition has carried seamlessly into the spring, where teams are already finding their rhythm and setting the tone for another competitive season.

King Athletics Celebrates Winter 2025-26 All-League and All-NEPSAC Honors

King School Athletics is proud to recognize a standout group of student-athletes who earned postseason honors across NEPSAC, FAA, and HVAL competition during the 2025-26 winter season. In total, King student-athletes earned 17 postseason spots, highlighting the depth, talent, and continued success of the Vikings!

Girls Basketball

The Girls Basketball team continued its dominance this winter, capturing a second consecutive championship while going undefeated in league play for the second year in a row.

Carolyn Joo ’28 led the way with All-NEPSAC First Team honors, while Anna Melton ’27 earned All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention recognition. Both players were also named to the HVAL First Team, alongside teammate CT Thompson ’28. Sophia Lasky ’26 added to the team’s success with HVAL Honorable Mention.

Boys Basketball

Jonovan Bracey ’26 and AJ Trimboli ’26 were both named All-NEPSAC and All-FAA selections following outstanding seasons that helped lead the Vikings on the court. Ryan Trimboli ’28 earned FAA and All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention, and Henry Simon ’26 also earned ALL-NEPSAC Honorable Mention. 

Girls Ice Hockey

King was well represented in FAA postseason honors, led by Ella Maldonado ’26, who earned First Team recognition. Greta Malloy ’28 was named to the Second Team, while Celia Shehaj ’30 received Honorable Mention.

Boys Ice Hockey

Jake Oertel ’28 earned FAA Honorable Mention for his contributions this season.

 

2026 College Athletics Night

The annual College Athletics Night Webinar brought together close to 40 King families on Tuesday, March 21, to learn more about the college recruiting process and to hear from standout King alumni athletes, college coaches, and admission representatives. Hosted and moderated by Emily Prince, Assistant Director of College Counseling, and Micah Hauben, Dean of Athletics, the participants were presented with an informative and interactive discussion, which included the following special guest presenters and topics:

SPRING SEASON UPDATES

Girls Varsity Golf

King Girls Varsity Golf is building on the momentum sparked during its spring training trip to Phoenix. Led by senior captain Sophia Santomaro and junior captains Blake Zarkowsky and Emily Beurket, the players returned energized and focused for the season ahead.

With the arrival of warmer weather, the team has been able to get back on the course and refine their swings in preparation for their opening match against Sacred Heart on March 31. That early-season work paid immediate dividends, as the Vikings secured the first win of the season in impressive fashion.

Congratulations to Abby Beurket ’28, Lyla Chong ’31, Tanya Jain ’31, Sophia, and Blake on earning their first victories of the season.

Girls Tennis

The Girls Tennis team is off to a strong start this season, bringing energy, depth, and a competitive edge to every match. With a mix of experienced returners and promising new talent, the squad has quickly established itself as a disciplined and resilient group.

Head Coach Barb Acosta has emphasized both consistency and growth early in the season, focusing on sharpening fundamentals while building confidence across the lineup. The team’s commitment has been evident in tight matches and key moments, where composure and teamwork have made the difference.

Early performances highlighted the team’s balance of strong singles paired with dependable doubles teams that continue to develop chemistry match by match. As the season progresses, the Vikings are positioning themselves as a team to watch in league play.

Softball

Softball has opened the season in dominant fashion, earning back-to-back wins highlighted by strong performances both at the plate and in the circle.

In the season opener, the Vikings showcased a balanced attack in a complete team victory. Elizabeth Tuttle ’27 set the tone, scattering seven hits over six innings while striking out 12. Elizabeth also contributed offensively, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Emma Drexel ’27 delivered a key highlight, launching a three-run home run while reaching base multiple times and scoring twice. Emi McAuliffe ’27 and Gates Seidelmann ’27 each added two hits to round out the offensive effort.

The momentum carried into the next game, where the Vikings delivered a commanding 5-0 win over Millbrook. Tuttle was once again dominant, recording 19 of the 21 outs by strikeout in a complete-game shutout.

With a powerful start on both sides of the ball, the Vikings are building confidence and establishing themselves as a team to watch early in the season.

Baseball

Baseball delivered an emphatic statement win, rolling past Green Farms Academy with a dominant 19-2 victory.

The Vikings came out firing offensively, putting consistent pressure on GFA from the start and capitalizing on scoring opportunities throughout the game. The lineup showed depth and discipline, with contributions up and down the order fueling the decisive result.

On the defensive side, the team backed up its offensive performance with solid play in the field, maintaining control and closing out the game in commanding fashion.

It was a complete team effort and an impressive early-season performance as the Vikings continue to build momentum.
