Welcome Head Football Coach Thomas Newkirk
King Athletics is excited to officially welcome Thomas Newkirk as the next Head Coach of football and looks forward to the positive impact he will have on our program and student-athletes.
A former football player at the University of New Haven, he has coached at both Hackley School and Woodlands High School and is widely respected throughout the Fairfield County and Westchester football communities. He brings more than 25 years of coaching experience and a deep background in football at the high school, travel, and national youth levels.
“Coaching is more than just about building athletes; it’s about building confidence, discipline, leadership, and young men and women who believe in themselves long after the game is over,” said Newkirk.
In addition to his scholastic coaching experience, Newkirk currently serves as the Tri-State Program Director for Punishers 7-on-7, one of the country's premier travel football programs. Since 2018, he has led nationally competitive teams ranging from 12U to 18U while helping student-athletes develop both on and off the field and guiding many through the college recruiting process.
Newkirk also brings experience coaching basketball, softball, and girls' flag football. Most recently, he led the Scarsdale High School Girls Flag Football team to a New York State Championship and a No. 1 state ranking.
Known for his energy, positivity, and ability to build strong relationships with student-athletes, he is committed to creating a disciplined, connected, and competitive program centered on accountability, development, and culture.
Class of 2026 College Bound Athlete Ceremony
On Monday, May 18, we were thrilled to recognize seven of our college-bound athletes at the annual College Bound Athlete Ceremony for their commitment and dedication to competing at the next level. The impressive accomplishments of these outstanding athletes was important to celebrate, and a large crowd of family, friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers came out to root on these Vikings one last time in the upper school gym.
In total, ten student-athletes from the class of 2026 will go on to play at the next level. Congratulations to all ten of our college-bound Vikings!
