The lower school gym was filled with sights, sounds, and smells from across the world for the annual Global Fair on Friday, April 26. Organized by the PA KInD Committee, the event showcased the rich cultural tapestry of the King School community.

“Events like the Global Fair encourage and allow members of our community to express aspects of their identity and culture while being celebrated as members of our King community,” said Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Clyde Beverly. He added that the event creates an environment where community members feel they belong.

Students, parents, faculty, and staff from all divisions enjoyed visiting tables hosted by King families representing 24 countries and four states.

“It is a powerful acknowledgment of the richness that comes from different backgrounds, languages, traditions, and cultures all converging in one place,” said KiND Co-Chair Christianne Contopoulos P’29. “Each table represents a unique perspective and offers a firsthand opportunity to learn, taste new food, foster connections, and build a sense of global citizenship.”

Lower school students collected flag stickers from each table and added them to passport books. They also received an earth-themed stress relief ball at the end of their visit. Middle and upper school students joined the festivities during flex and free periods, displaying flag stickers on their clothing.

Live music performances provided rhythm featuring global music from Beginning, Concert, and Studio Bands, led by Chair of the Performing Arts Department Garrett Mendez.

“It was a joy to feel the energy that this event brought to the community,” said KiND Co-Chair Dian Holder P’32.
