King School is pleased to announce a title change for Dr. Clyde Beverly III P’33, ’34. From this point forward, Dr. Beverly’s title is Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

“Adding the word ‘belonging’ to this role better reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every member of our community enjoys and benefits from a strong sense of belonging,” said Head of School Carol Maoz. “Our ongoing goal to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment requires us to evolve and continue to look for ways to strengthen a deep sense of community,” she added.

Since he started at King on July 1, 2021, as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Beverly’s work has focused on ensuring belonging. “My approach to this work reflects my commitment to making sure all members of our school community feel welcomed, safe, affirmed, and that they belong,” said Beverly.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is a strategic pillar in King’s Strategic Plan and will also become Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. The word Belonging will also be added to the title of all of the school’s DEI Coordinators.

As stated in the school’s Strategic Plan, “Experiencing a sense of belonging is essential for students to strive for academic excellence and for children and adults to grow and thrive in every area of their lives.”

“As we continue to ‘grow together,’ we must ensure that belonging remains a focal point in our work and a top priority as a community,” added Maoz.
