This weekend we have a nice slate of home games scheduled at King, and with the changing season, it is the perfect time of year to visit our beautiful campus. Crew kicks off the action on Saturday morning racing in the Head of the Housatonic regatta. Good luck to the Vikings!!
Varsity Girls Soccer earned a huge FAA league win over Hopkins 3-2 on Monday behind stellar goal play from Ava Angelov and scores by Sam Lockyer, Lila Leibowits, and Sofia Acosta! This was the first win over Hopkins since 2012 and was especially well-earned, considering the game was played on the road, on grass, in the pouring rain! With a record so far of 3-2-1, the Vikings are poised to have one of their strongest seasons in recent years. The team is facing Rye Country Day next, join us on the sidelines to cheer them on in their winning streak.
Varsity Girls Volleyball continues to be a dominant force. They currently sit at 6-0 with a match Thursday afternoon at Hamden Hall, hopeful to return with the undefeated season intact. JV Blue also travels to take on Hamden Hall as well. Varsity then hosts Kingswood Oxford at 11:00 a.m. in the US Gym this Saturday.
Cross Country teams were in action yesterday at the All-League race at Brunswick. Today, Varsity Field Hockey hosts Millbrook at 4:45 p.m. on the King and Armstrong Family Fields (middle turf), and Varsity Boys Soccer travels to take on Rye Country Day in FAA play at 4:30 p.m. Boys JV Soccer (home 4:30 p.m.) and JV Red Volleyball (4:30 p.m. at GCDS) are both in action today also.
Varsity Football will be the first team this season to honor its Seniors! They will host Pingry School on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on the Segalas Family Field (south turf) for Senior Day. Congratulations to Class of 2023 Seniors Will Ehrhart, Jack O’Callaghan, Peter Passaro, Griffen Gaine, Chase Brown, James Schiff DeNota, Kenny Backes, Joey Cohen, Jonathan Decker, Gavin McCue and Marcus Watts.
Homecoming is right around the corner, with activities and events taking place all next weekend. After the week of spirit-filled themes and our Blue & Gold day on Friday, 10/14, the Pep Rally on Friday afternoon will officially kickoff the weekend with our upper school fall athletic teams, our lower school Superfans, and our lower school Spirit Squad leading the charge!
Saturday, October 15, will see a full line-up of athletic events and the 10th annual King Cares 5k will wrap up the festivities on Sunday.
