NEPSAC Tournament Updates
Girls Volleyball
Update: Sunday, November 17
King Volleyball wins first ever Class A title with a 3-0 sweep of Phillips Exeter Academy (NH)! The FAA champion Vikings stay perfect on the year at 21-0 and earn an incredible 9th straight New England Title across Class A,B, and C!
After their thrilling run to the FAA championship last Friday, the Vikings took care of business on Wednesday in the first round of the New England tournament. Having won the previous eight NEPSAC titles, four in Class C and four in Class B, King was now moved into Class A, the top division, where they faced Hotchkiss School. Taking care of business meant a sweep for the Vikings, who now move on to host Choate Rosemary Hall in the semifinals on Saturday. The match will be played Saturday, November 26, at 1:00 p.m. in the Upper School Gym. The winning team will move on to Class A Final on Sunday at Taft School at 2:30 p.m. If you have not yet seen this team play, you should make it a point to come out on Saturday as this special group of athletes, including five seniors, takes to King’s court one last time this season! Field Hockey
After an extraordinary 2024 FAA campaign, the King Field Hockey program entered the NEPSAC Class C tournament as the #4 seed and on Wednesday took on the #5 seed Newton Country Day School (MA). Due to NEPSAC guidelines for distance schools have to travel for tournament contests, the game was played at neutral site Choate Rosemary Hall School in Wallingford, CT.
The Vikings battled back to tie the game with 9 minutes left to play on a goal by Penny Prince ’29, but fell 2-1 in the first sudden victory overtime period.
What a game and what a season. After a return to the FAA, King won 15 games this season, advanced to league semifinals, and qualified with a top-4 seed in New Englands!
Congratulations to Coach Emily Prince and her staff, and to all the players and families! A special thank you also to the seniors who meant so much to the program over the past four years.

Alumni Spotlight
Norah Shattan ’22
Hey Norah Shattan here, checking in from West Point, NY!
I’m currently a junior at the Academy—known here as a “cow.” West Point has challenged me to grow in ways I never imagined: in the classroom, on the court, in the field, and as a person. I love the culture of striving for excellence and the shared commitment to something greater than ourselves.
This volleyball season has been an intense one! We’re headed to the playoffs, with quarterfinals next Tuesday against Loyola. With a large senior class graduating last year—almost our entire starting lineup—it’s been inspiring to see our team step up. We’re mostly freshmen this year (11 out of 18 players), but they’ve risen to the challenge, pushing themselves to new heights and finding success.
I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences, friends, and mentors I had at King. I miss hanging out with friends in the pit, training with Mr. Tran or Coach Kat, and the vibrant learning environment that so many of my teachers created. Enjoy every moment at King—it goes by fast!
