Class of 2027

Senior Stress Busters are special treats and surprises provided by the Parents Association and Grade 12 parent volunteers to help seniors relax, recharge, and have a little fun during the busy school year. These thoughtful moments give seniors a chance to take a break, enjoy time with classmates, and feel celebrated as they approach the end of their King journey.

Senior Week: Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, June 4, 2027

When seniors return from their Senior Projects, the celebration continues with Senior Week, beginning after Memorial Day! Seniors should plan to be back on campus for a special week filled with traditions, celebrations, and memorable moments leading up to Commencement on Friday, June 4, 2027.

Many Senior Week activities are already included in the calendar above, with additional details and events still being planned. Seniors can look forward to favorite traditions such as Prize Day, the Senior Day outing, Prom, and other opportunities to celebrate together as the Class of 2027 prepares for Commencement.

During the last month of school, all seniors develop and complete their own Senior Projects. The program encourages each senior to study, work, or become involved in exploring an area of interest that, it is hoped, might engage and inspire them. This can also be an ideal time to become involved in or continue with Community Service. Many seniors have found a project of this nature to be very rewarding. Participation in the program may also give them a small taste of real-life time management, commitment, and planning. This program is seen as a gift of time, after some very busy years, to do something they have wanted to do but never had time for. The program culminates in the Senior Project Presentation Fair, during which seniors are expected to present their projects to King faculty, students, and parents.

We will introduce information about Senior Projects in early spring.  Senior projects begin May 3 through May 28, 2027.

The Senior Parent Gift is a special tradition that brings families in the graduating class together to celebrate their children’s King experience and leave a lasting impact on the school community.

Each year, senior families are invited to come together in support of a meaningful school priority. The gift is a collective expression of gratitude for the teachers, coaches, mentors, and experiences that have shaped our students during their years at King.

We are grateful to the families of the Class of 2027 for helping carry this tradition forward and for making a meaningful difference at King.

As you prepare to transition from students and parents to members of the alumni community, we hope you’ll do one important thing: Stay connected.

While your paths may take you to different colleges, careers, cities, and countries, King and the Alumni Office will always be here to welcome you home. Commencement is not the end of your experience—it’s the beginning of a lifelong connection to the King community.

Stay Connected

There are many ways to remain part of the King community after graduation:

• Stay Informed: Keep up with class updates, campus news, alumni stories, and upcoming opportunities through our Alumni Newsletters.

• Find a College Buddy: Connect with King alumni who attend or have graduated from your college to ask questions, get advice, and build your King network on campus.

• Connect and Celebrate: Return to campus for Homecoming, annual Thanksgiving sports games, and other special gatherings. Connect with fellow alumni at receptions in New York City and California or join outings to see the New York Knicks or New York Rangers.

• Grow Your Network: Tap into the King alumni community through KingConnects and our LinkedIn group. As your career grows, share your experience by becoming a mentor or participating as a Career Day panelist.

• Celebrate Milestones: Share your accomplishments and life updates with King, and come back to celebrate milestone reunions with your classmates—starting with your 5-Year Reunion.

• Give Back: Make an impact on future generations of Vikings by making a philanthropic gift, volunteering your time, or sharing your talents and expertise with the King community.

Wherever life takes you, we hope that you stay connected, come back to visit, and remember that you’ll always have a place at King.

Commencement is Friday, June 4, 2027, at 5:00 p.m.

Commencement Announcements and Lawn Signs

In the Fall, families will be asked to complete a form that helps the school gather required information for Commencement.

• Families will be asked if they would like a custom congratulatory lawn sign. Families will also be able to request printed commencement announcements (invitations) to share with family and friends. They are not required for entry to commencement. These announcements will be given to your students to take home in early March, along with their custom lawn signs.
• We will send digital invitations for Commencement to families in April.

From 2:00-4:00 p.m., families are invited to the Pre-Commencement Reception. For graduates and their families who getting photos taken or waiting for additional family members or guest to arrive, it's the perfect place to wait until you can be seated.

Students are expected to be on campus by 3:30 p.m., dressed and ready for their class photo at the Simon House.

Once you arrive at the Simon House, pick up your flower, which will get pinned to your shoulder.  Please pick up your flower before heading to the photo area. Students will have their individual portraits taken during their family photo time. Anyone who did not take an individual photo with their family will also have their individual photo taken before the class photo at 4:00 p.m.

Commencement guests can begin seating at any time after 3:30 p.m. Most guests arrive between 4:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Please make sure you are seated by 5:00 p.m., as we will begin the ceremony promptly.

• There are six seats reserved for each family; location of the seating assignments is done by lottery.
• In addition to the reserved seating, at least 200 seats will be available for your guests.
• Tickets are not required for Commencement.
• If you have any special seating needs, please notify Mi Chau at mchau@kingschoolct.org.

Dress code: This is a formal event, so no flip-flops, sneakers, or shorts are allowed. Formal attire includes a white button-down collared shirt with a tie and trousers, formal pants and a blouse, or a dress.

Gown: Keep your gown on a hanger so the wrinkles fall out, or put it into a dryer for 5-10 minutes on fluff before arriving on campus.

Caps: Use hairpins, if necessary, to attach the cap (supplies and assistance will be provided on campus before commencement). The tassel attaches to the button in the middle of the cap. Graduates should wear the tassel on the RIGHT side at the beginning of the ceremony and move the tassel to the left, as a group, when given the signal. Students may keep the gown, cap, and tassel.

Highpoint Pictures, a professional photography company, takes photos from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. before the Commencement ceremony at the Simon House. They also take photos during Commencement, including photos of each graduate as they accept their diploma.

• They are also offering professional family portraits and individual portraits of each graduate. Graduates do not need to sign up for individual portraits; however, families should request a time slot to take their family portraits.
• There is no fee to take photos, and no forms are due in advance.
• All photos are posted to a private online gallery on Highpoint’s website two to three weeks after Commencement, where you can browse all photos, order prints, and purchase image files.
• Sign-up will be available in April. Please look out for an email with the registration link.
• If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Marketing, Lakeya Newton, at lnewton@kingschoolct.org.

Commencement will be live-streamed on this page. Feel free to share this link with family and friends who are unable to attend Commencement. After the ceremony, the full video will also be available on this page for viewing.

Parking is available anywhere on campus, and there will be members of our operations team coordinating parking.  There are also several additional handicap-accessible parking spots available. You are allowed to drop off guests at the tent, then go park your car.
