In addition to providing academic and artistic opportunities for growth, Summer Institute offers athletic clinics for those students who want to engage their bodies along with their minds, and push themselves to be their best in a variety of sports.
Players will be able to gain individual instruction from the area's top coaching staff. The coaches are interested in developing skills and building better teammates through drills and scrimmages.

Join us for fun and exciting rides in the local Fairchester region. Group meets 3 of the 5 days, with days dependent on weather.
Group mountain bike rides will take us to all local trails, including the Mianus Maze, the Wilton Woods, and Graham Hills. Students will learn the skills and art to this growing sport. Novices and Intermediates are welcome! We will work on improving our endurance as well as gaining a respect for the local trails and how we can maintain them. Riders can expect single-track riding that is fast and smooth. All riders must bring their own bike and helmet. We'll meet at the trail head!

This course invites all adults to practice the skillful art of yoga with its magical ability to mold to each body’s capacity of flexibility and muscle extension. It is a great way to spend time while your child is taking a class at the Summer Institute. This class entails physical activity for most of the period length. Each class will start with breathing and mindfulness followed by a very short verbal description of the muscle group focused on that day and will finish with restorative poses. Occasionally traditional yoga poses will be supported and explained with videos. This course is tailored for hardcore athletes, for diehard yoga lovers or for those athletes willing to strengthen and stretch their muscles. There is one promise: after each class you will feel great and uplifted!
Hybrid Movement Class
Incoming Grades: 5-12, and Adults

Certified Yoga Teacher and Gyrotonic Trainer Brian Miller will be offering a Hybrid Movement class that will focus on strength training, core work, and flexibility. Similarly to Ashtanga Yoga, these classes will contain the same movements daily to enable the student to work on gaining coordination, confidence, breathe work, and strengthening. New material will be presented, as the participants are ready. The primary focus of these classes will be moving and strengthening while creating length while using principles that will enable the students to maximize their range of motion. Each class will end with the traditional Shavasana Resting pose followed by a centering exercise that will take the students minds through the body, bringing more awareness to all the sensations being felt.
