The King Parents’ Association (PA) is a dynamic organization that plays a vital role in our School community. The organization depends and thrives on the active participation of parent volunteers who sponsor a variety of projects and programs designed to support King's Mission by:
- Improving and enhancing the educational experience of the students
- Helping create a spirit of community
- Facilitating communication
- Supporting administrative and Faculty needs
The PA serves as a general advocate for the parent body and facilitates communication between parents and the School through general membership meetings. The PA will hold its General Meetings for all members three times per year in September, January and May. The President of the Parents’ Association serves as an Ex Officio member of the Board of Trustee, and, as such, attends Board meetings and serves on Board committees. Dr. Denise Pope, author, Senior Lecturer at Stanford University Graduate School of Education and a founder of Challenge Success visited King on Tuesday, January 28, to talk to parents in the morning about A Balanced Perspective on College Fit and then in the evening about The Well Balanced Student and Child.
PA King Cares Co Chairs are grateful for our generous community and volunteers: "On January 24, a dedicated and enthusiastic group of nine PA King Cares parents and three very generous faculty members loaded up the King vans and headed into New York City for a 10:00 p.m. rendezvous with a Midnight Run representative."
It was a weekend to celebrate the deep history of King School; our competitive athletics; a spirited community; and giving back. The weather cooperated (mostly) for Homecoming Weekend 2019 as families, staffulty, neighbors, friends, and alums - dating back to the Class of 1969 - gathered on campus for a fun-filled weekend.
Dr. Jean-Baptiste introduced a new series of parent education events: Hot Coffee, Hot Topics. These are parent/caregiver workshops and discussions to grow our collective social, intellectual, emotional capacity for navigating current cultural and social transformations that impact how children learn. In these events, parents and caregivers will engage with each other, learn, and talk about tools, strategies, and challenges for developing cultural competence and how to provide a full circle of support for students from school to home.
Over the course of the two days, Lynn met with staffulty, students, and parents to communicate a consistent message to manage and stop the worrying cycle and raise courageous and independent children and teens.
