Even after concluding a memorable soccer career at King School, recent grad Thomas King (‘20) is still leaving his mark on the game in North Stamford.

After being named a 2019-20 Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Scholar-Athlete Award winner last Spring, “TK” can now add another soccer accolade to his resume after it was announced that he has been selected to the United States Soccer Coaches High School Scholar All-American Team. The award goes to recognize the outstanding achievement of being named one of the nation’s best on the field and in the classroom for the 2019-20 academic year. It’s an honor that truly reflects TK’s dedication and determination toward athletics and academics throughout his time at King.

A two-sport athlete in Varsity Boys Soccer and Varsity Boys Tennis, TK received FAA All-League and NEPSAC postseason honors in Soccer while also being selected to the NEPSSA Senior All-Star Game, WNEPSSA All-Star Match, and was voted by the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association to the All-State Team. A three-time team captain with Varsity Boys Soccer, TK earned News12 CT Scholar-Athlete of the Week recognition last October for his commitment to the classroom, King Athletics, and his global service work with Orphaned Starfish Foundation, as the New Canaan native helped teach English lessons and Soccer skills at an orphanage in Colombia the past two years.

Along with attending the Orphaned Starfish Foundation annual red carpet gala in New York City last Fall with members of the Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer teams, TK also graced the cover of New Canaan-Darien-Rowayton Magazine as he was selected along with five other King Students as "Teens to Watch".

With this latest recognition from the High School Scholar All-American Committee, TK will receive a Scholar All-American certificate, a medal emblematic of the selection, and a second certificate to be displayed at King to showcase TK’s contribution to the program as a Scholar All-American.

TK will also receive an invite to the the annual United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony on Saturday, January 9, 2021, honoring all of the All-Americans and Scholar All-Americans for youth, high school and college soccer in 2020. The event will take place in conjunction with the annual United Soccer Coaches Convention in Anaheim, California.
