Dance

Dance is a holistic exercise that builds one’s mind and body, as students explore their creative spirit and artistic expression.

As part of the performing arts offered at King School, students can start taking dance in middle school and continue to build their skills in the high school dance course.

We believe that combining dance and academics enhances the student experience.  Dancing improves overall fitness, endurance, muscle toning, and strengthening since it involves cardiovascular/aerobic fitness, core and strength training, and stretches for flexibility. Additionally, through group collaboration and teamwork, our dancers develop a healthy sense of confidence and team spirit while gaining a greater understanding of nonverbal communication and expression through movement and body language.

The King dance program welcomes students who are experienced dancers and those who are dancing for the first time, giving students an opportunity to discover multiple styles of dance through choreography.  Dance styles offered are ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and modern.
