US students celebrated with Halo Award nominations

Congratulations to our US students who have been nominated for a Halo award. King received 14 nominations, up from 8 last year. The Annual High School Halo Awards honors high school students' achievements in all aspects of theatre. Over 60 high schools from across the State of Connecticut are participating in the 16th Annual Halo Awards this year! 

At King, our students are exposed to many forms of creative expression and encouraged to pursue an artistic passion or discover a new one. Our Performing Arts program offers students the opportunity to make personal and cultural discoveries by participating in a creative, disciplined and collaborative process. 

Award winners will be announced during a ceremony at the Palace Theater in Waterbury on Wednesday, May 29. The 2019 King nominees are:

Jordan Kulick '19: Best actress in Laramie Project and Mamma Mia
Grady Bourchin '19: Best actor in a musical Mamma Mia
Caroline Eagleton '19 and Derek Hasaan '19: Best comedy actress/actor in a musical 
Christine Jansen '21: Best supporting actress in a musical 
Ashley Xu '19: Best artwork Laramie Project
Mamma Mia: Best chorus, best dancing, and best running crew
The Laramie Project: Fearless Award, best cast, and best contemporary play
