After School Enrichment

Enrichment Classes

King is pleased to offer After School Enrichment classes to suit a variety of interests.

Registration for these classes is by email only. Please contact the Faculty as listed below directly with any questions or to register for a class. These opportunities are updated every few months, please check the bi-weekly newsletter for announcements of new programs.  If you have any questions concerning After School Enrichment Classes in general, please contact Karen Raidt, Director of King Cares Service and Student Services, at kraidt@kingschoolct.org or (203) 322-3496 Ext. 311.

Please note, Enrichment Classes take place when school is in session. There are no classes during School Breaks. In the event of a Snow Day, classes will be re-scheduled for another date. 

Kids' Yoga

Yoga exercises your mind, body and breath! Students will strengthen and stretch their bodies while learning how to focus and improve their moods through relaxation and breathing skills. There are many benefits of yoga including improved balance and motor skills, increased creativity, and a strong sense of self and community. 

Classes will consist of warm up, pose work, independent practice, and relaxation time. 

Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a snack and a water bottle. 

GRADES: K-2

DATES: Wednesdays: April 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15

TIME: 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

FEE: $120 per six week session

Lunch Time Chess

Chess is a game for people of all ages. You can learn to play at any age and in chess, unlike in many other sports, you don't ever have to retire. Age is also not a factor when you're looking for an opponent --young can play old and old can play young.

GRADES: K-1 Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26, 3/26, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16 

GRADES: 2 - 4 Thursdays 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 2/7, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18

Martial Arts Club

Discipline, Respect, and Confidence. These are the top three traits taught within the study of martial arts. In this club, students will learn the basics of Tae Kwon Do. They will practice basic kicks, strikes, and forms all while achieving their own personal goals. Students will also learn basics in physical training. Push-ups, sit-ups, stretching, and other various drills will provide students with the energy and confidence to perform in each day of the session. With the instruction from a 4th degree black belt and multi-time Tae Kwon Do champion who has over 20yrs of martial arts experience, this club is guaranteed to give students a new appreciation for martial arts and what it stands for.

Recommended Attire: Comfortable clothing (sweat pants, t-shirt, sneakers)

TIME: 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Scratch Programming

Learn Scratch programming Grades 3-5. This class is for beginners and those who already know how to code in Scratch. Create games, animate stories, and use Makey Makey boards. Classes will meet on Thursdays.

TIME: 3:00-4:00

Science Stations Club

Students will get to use microscopes, science tools, building kits, as wells learn about electricity, make and test bubble solutions, and use the campus as the classroom.

GRADES: PreK - Grade 2: Thursdays: 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16

GRADES: 3 -5: Tuesdays: 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14

TIME: 2:45- 3:45 p.m.

FEE: $120 per six week session

Vocal Ensemble

Have you ever wanted to improve your singing skills and learn to sing songs that you love? This is the ensemble for you! Students will work to learn healthy vocal techniques, musicianship skills, and sing in harmony. Repertoire will include popular as well as traditional tunes. 

GRADES: 3-5

DATES: Mondays: 4/8, 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13

TIME: 2:50-3:20 p.m.

FEE: $60 per six week session

Zumba Kids

Come shake, move, and get fit! Zumba Kids is an innovative dance fitness class, which offers a fun, energetic way to promote a healthy lifestyle through movement and exercise. There are many benefits to Zumba Kids some of which include; improved coordination, balance, muscle tone, memory, endurance, and creativity. Students will also learn cool dance steps, routines, and games while enjoying 100% kid friendly music.

Be sure not to miss out on all the fun!

The class will consist of a warm-up, dance steps/routines, game time, and cool-down.

Students need to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and sneakers. Students should also bring a snack, towel, and a bottle of water.
