Dear Members of the King Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee, we are excited to announce that Marnie Sadlowsky has been unanimously selected as King’s next Head of School, beginning her tenure in the fall of 2027.

This appointment follows a highly competitive national search that attracted an exceptional group of accomplished educational leaders from across the country. Throughout the process, we were inspired by the caliber of candidates who recognized the distinctive strength of King’s mission, commitment to excellence, and community. As the search unfolded, it became clear that Marnie is uniquely positioned to lead King into its next chapter and embodies the values and mission of the school in profound and lasting ways. 

For nearly three decades, Marnie has helped define the King experience through her intellectual leadership and deep commitment to students, families, faculty, and staff. Since joining King in 1997 as an English teacher, she has served the community with distinction across a range of roles, more recently as Head of Upper School and Associate Head of School for Strategic Programs.

Marnie has been central in shaping many of the signature offerings and strategic initiatives that distinguish King today. Her leadership has strengthened cross-divisional curriculum coherence, expanded opportunities for student research and purpose-driven learning, advanced the Diploma Distinction program, and supported the growth of the school’s Global Studies and King Cares Service programs. She has been instrumental in supporting a developmental, student-centered approach to college counseling and in cultivating a robust faculty professional growth program grounded in the idea of teachers as “Expert-Mentors.” She has also played a key role in the planning and design of capital projects that support the strength of the King School program.

Marnie brings to this role a unique combination of continuity, strategic insight, educational expertise, and heartfelt commitment to King. She approaches difficult decisions with empathy and purpose. Her leadership style reflects compassion and accountability, always grounded in what is best for students and the broader school community. 

Marnie earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with Distinction from St. Olaf College and a Master of Arts in Religion and Literature from Yale Divinity School. She also completed the Summer Klingenstein Fellowship at Columbia University Teachers College, a nationally recognized program for independent school leaders.

From the outset, the search process was designed to be collaborative and community-informed, and the perspectives shared throughout this process played a critical role in guiding the committee’s work.
