After School Enrichment & Care
For Lower School students, King offers both After School Enrichment and After School Care options. Please find information listed below on the Enrichment Classes and After School Care tabs.
King is pleased to offer after school classes for a variety of interests. A qualified Staff teaches a variety of courses for after-school enrichment and fun.

PLEASE NOTE, ENRICHMENT CLASSES TAKE PLACE WHEN SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. THERE ARE NO CLASSES DURING FEBRUARY OR SPRING BREAK. IN THE CASE OF A SNOW DAY, CLASSES WILL BE RE-SCHEDULED FOR ANOTHER DATE.

ENVIRONMENTAL ANT PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP
Calling all writers! Come join us in the process of adapting the book, Environmental Ant into a format for a puppet show. We will write a script which will be used for the performance of Environmental Ant Puppet Show by the Fifth Grade.

ENGINEERING + 3D PRINTING + GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP
Help solve global issues using 3d printing! Join us on an adventure to transform the world as we know it! Students in this class will learn how to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to design and build solar powered flashlights together with their Global Partner student through video chats. This class is taught by Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Laramie in partnership with Level Up Village.

The benefits of this class are many! Yoga can help build strength, endurance, and flexibility. The main focus of the child yoga program is fun. Children pretend to be animals for which poses are named. Stories are created about the poses the children assume to make the class interesting and engaging. This class helps children grow stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally, and they have a lot of fun too. A portion of the class is devoted to developing a mindfulness practice and learning how to use the breath for self regulation and relaxation.

Come shake, move, and get fit! Zumba Kids is an innovative dance fitness class, which offers a fun, energetic way to promote a healthy lifestyle through movement and exercise. There are many benefits to Zumba Kids some of which include; improved coordination, balance, muscle tone, memory, endurance, and creativity. Students will also learn cool dance steps, routines, and games while enjoying 100% kid friendly music.
Be sure not to miss out on all the fun!
The class will consist of a warm-up, dance steps/routines, game time, and cool-down.
Students need to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and sneakers. Students should also bring a snack, towel, and a bottle of water.

AFTER SCHOOL ART
Make projects of your own design using the many materials and techniques available in the LS studio. Come ready to create your own ideas and explore the unlimited options of the art room. Snack and a smock are provided.

This class combines jazz,hip hop, and ballet providing students with a solid foundation for dance while having fun! Jennifer Segovia is proud to be teaching for her second year at King as the Performing Arts Upper School Dance Instructor. She is so excited to be offering a dance class for the Lower School Enrichment Program and can't wait to make new dancing friends!

LUNCH TIME CHESS
Chess is a game for people of all ages. You can learn to play at any age and in chess, unlike in many other sports, you don't ever have to retire. Age is also not a factor when you're looking for an opponent --young can play old and old can play young.

The purpose of the Lower School Spanish Enrichment Club is to provide children with the opportunity to engage in supplemental, structured choice language activities that encourage children to explore their world and their own creativity and interests. Every week, students will read, write, speak and listen in Spanish. All meetings are taught in full-immersion Spanish in order to build confidence, motivate students and enhance language skills. Art, story-telling, games, music and multimedia activities in Spanish will be incorporated into every week’s meeting.

King is pleased to offer after school care for children in Full or Half Day Preschool-Grade 5. Qualified Staff and US students interact with the children in a casual, fun environment after school.
Registration for After School Care is by email only. To enroll in the After School Care Program, please download this form and email it to email@example.com. You will receive a confirmation email once your email has been received.

Most activities take place within the LS Media Center, where children have access to books, magazines, computers, and cozy seating. Weather permitting, the program takes advantage of King’s fields and playground.
Hours of Operation
Monday-Friday, 2:45-5:30 p.m., when school is in session. There is no After School on early dismissal days.
- Pick up is 5:30 p.m.
- A late fee of $25.00 will be charged after 5:35 p.m. to defray the additional staffing costs.
- Your child will be automatically reenrolled in the After School Program each trimester unless you notify us otherwise.
- Your child will not be released to anyone other than the person you designate without written permission. A photo ID will be required. For the safety of the children, this policy is strictly enforced.
- If an emergency occurs and you are not able to pick up your son/daughter on time, please call the After School Program office at (203) 322-3496, Ext. 398. or email Jamie Mansfield directly.
The After School Program fees are based on the number of school days and are billed on a trimester basis by the Business Office.
- One Day: $330
- Two Days: $660
- Three Days: $990
- Four Days: $1,320
- Five Days: $1,650
If for any reason you cannot pick up your son/daughter by 3:00 p.m., the After School Program will accommodate students on a drop-in basis for a fee of $50.00 for the day.
